Here is the backstory on our house: We got it dirt cheap, less than half the price other houses like ours would sell in our neighborhood, BUT it hadn't been updated in at least 50 years except new windows (thank god). This is no exaggeration: there were zero electrical outlets on the second floor (and only 4 on the first), the furnace was still a coal burning furnace (adapted for gas), and there were still gas lights in place.
So here are just a few befores (I have a lot more, but didn't want to overwhelm w/PIPing)
Outside before we tore all of the bushes out in the front and back:
The kitchen sink that was in the house when we bought it (now recycled):
The original furnace (it took up so much space our basement was not useable):
Okay now the afters, even though we have dumped over $25K into it, cosmetically it is still the same pretty much. Most of the money we have put into it went toward foundation repair, wiring, a new roof, & heating & cooling.
Outside (including new roof):
This is our living room (front door is on the right):
Another view (Daisy the dog included):
Through the archway is the dining room (w/another view into living room):
Off the dining room is the TV Room (recently redecorated):
On the very back of the house is the kitchen. The only thing we have updated here is the sink. The kitchen functions and that is it. A complete remodel will come in time. Be prepared, these pictures are sad:
Okay now upstairs, top of the stairs is the bathroom. Also needs remodel, we still have a clawfoot tub! (on the left surrounded by shower curtain)
In our upstairs hallway we have an old window we found in the basement w/pictures of our dog Miley in it:
Guest Bedroom #1 (recently redecorated):
Guest Bedroom #2:
Master Bedroom:
There is one more room that is considered the 4th bedroom, but it is TINY and we converted it into a walk in closet. It is so small I couldn't really get a good picture.
Lots more work to be done, but its liveable!

Very nice! I love how the downstairs rooms flow, and I love the bathroom - the medicine cabinet is tucked in the wall right? I also love the old window/art idea!
You guys have done a great job!
It's got so much charm! I love the archways and the old wood trim everywhere.
I also really like the front porch.

It is access to a laundry chute. We don't use it and will be taking those out and drywalling over the hole. We plan on doing the kitchen one this summer and the bathroom one when we gut the bathroom in a year or two.
My niece always looks in the bathroom one when she is over and tells me I need to clean the cobwebs out!
