Need opinions for a dress for my BIL's wedding in May.
I really love this dress from Modcloth, but the reviews on the fit seem all over the place (I'm a 10-12 so I would probably order a large). It is a heavier weight fabric, so that could be either good or bad for April, depending on the weather. I want to keep the price under $60 because I have 3 weddings pretty much back to back from April to May.
I also like this dress for my sister's beach wedding in Oregon a week later. She wants us to wear earth tones perferably in green.
I haven't tried on the Anthropologie one, so it could end up making me look really hippy.
What do you guys think? Keep looking? Get the cute red dress and return it if the fit isn't right? Get the green dress (or a different green dress) and wear it to both weddings? Other ideas?
Re: Dress Advice
I think the red dress is super cute! Purchase.
As for the green, I'm hourglass so my pants are 10s and I wouldn't even consider this for myself. I feel like the way the material hangs would exaggerate my hips and not in a good way. I'd seek an alternative green dress.
I totally agree. I'm also an hourglass (pants 6/7) and if I were to wear that, I would look super hippy. Too much rouching/fabric, IMHO. But I love the red dress!!
Option C: Borrow said red dress from a friend who owns it in the size you want & has the same hair color/ skin tone as you & hasn't worn it since her rehearsal dinner.
I also wore it in my e-pictures. (and Clinton wore the same red polo. Huh. Definitely didn't even notice that until now.)
And this isn't necessarily the best dress shot, but it's more of a close up so you can see that the white dots are more like little plus signs.
It's somewhat lonely in my closet, as I haven't really had many dress-wearing occasions lately.
Anyway, if you want to save yourself like $50 plus tax & shipping, you know where I am.

TTC Since January 2011 - We have bad spermOf course! And you have to post a picture of when you wear it! It's a fabulous dress. Literally the minute I saw it, I decided that was THE dress I wanted for our engagement pictures. It's not a light fabric at all, so it's good if the weather is cool for the wedding(s) you're wearing it to, but it's not too heavy where you'll be dying if it's warm. My only complaint with it (and this has no relevance to anything besides me just rambling) was that when it arrived, it STUNK! So maybe it's better for you to borrow my clean, non-smelly one than to order a new one that might totally gross you out. I love Modcloth, but I've noticed that when I've ordered from them before. Where does Modcloth keep their dresses?!
Anyway, rambling aside, you can totally borrow it. SOMEONE needs to wear it! I don't see why the dress should suffer for my recent lack of fanciness. And you will look fabulous in it! I'll text you at a less ridiculous hour (why am I awake at 3:12??) and get your addres & I'll get it out to you when I get back from Atlanta on Tuesday.

I'm sorta blown away that this just happened lol I mean she picked a dress out of a million and one of the ladies here happens to own that dress and can send it over to her... crazy.
Plus I clicked on your Anthro link and it says the item is no longer available anyways (although maybe in a store).
