yesterday we were called to an impromptu meeting right after school. As in, "follow your students out the door at get to the meeting room ASAP".
The announcement:
Principal says: "I wanted to be the first to let you know that as of June 30, I will be leaving CK and moving on. I'll do everything I can to ease the transition. We don't feel like answering any questions right now."
(Imagine LOTS of big eyes and jaws dropping)
Then, Assistant Principal says: "I will also be leaving at the end of the year."
(More jaws dropping)
They both walk out of the room. The staff sits there, speechless.
And now, of course, everyone is speculating WHY. The assistant resigned - she has put in her time and was planning for next year to be her last year. The principal, (I think), made the desicion to leave on her own...before it was basically made for her. She's done a lot of good for the school in terms of technology and advancement...but she also has a lot of weaknesses. Our parents are EXTREMELY overbearing and in-you-face and she is NOT a strong disciplinarian, so there are a lot of things that don't get handled appropriately.
Just an interesting way to end the day yesterday.
