vent/aw/confessions

can we do these?

vent: DH's grandma is sick, and she's not in a place where she's getting the care she needs because the nursing home isn't equipped for it. She's been declared mentally incompetent, and DH's family is listening to her, she thinks she's fine in the nursing home, it's hard on the staff, and DH's immediate family who is taking care of her, while the rest of the family is out of town/lives in other states.

aw: other than my shiny new camera, Bernice, I got nothing.

confession: I don't like the happy thoughts/bubble/prayer requests posts. If I don't know you, I don't really care. I also fully recognize the hypocrisy because I've posted them before.

Re: vent/aw/confessions

  • One word: VEGAS

I am so ready for a break from work.

    Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker
  • Vent: I have been sick more in the past 3 months than I have in the past 3 years.  I've missed 3 days of work due to sickness and 1 day due to snow since January.  Not to mention the 2 week vacation I took in January.  I don't think my boss is too happy with me right now...

  • Vent: I have a similar vent Lauree!  I just missed 3.5 days of work due to the world's worst cold ever.  I was soooooooo miserable.  :-(  I can now breathe through my nose though!  Yay!!  Big accomplishment!!  And I'm not coughing every 5 seconds like I was on Tuesday and Wednesday.  My abs are SORE from all the coughing, it's kind of ridiculous.  :-(  The silver lining though (?)....I lost 4 pounds this week.  Not the most fun way to lose weight and I'm sure I lost some muscle mass due to complete inactivity, but hey, my pants are looser today so yay...?

AW:  I managed not to die this week.  It was close call a couple of times when I got started coughing and felt like I couldn't stop.  :-(

Confession:  DH was a dear this week and was so great about running out and getting medicine or making me soup but really I just wanted to be totally alone.  I felt gross with snot everywhere, puffy watery eyes and the whole works.  I couldn't tell him to buzz off though because he was trying so hard to be a wonderful doting DH.  I guess I really can't complain.

Confessio #2:  I was laying in bed this morning with a completely clogged left nostril.  All of a sudden it went POOF and my nostril was clear.  I LOOOOOOOOOOOVE that feeling.  I've spent all week flip flopping from side to side hoping each side of my nose will drain so my hips are sore (I usually spend more time sleeping on my back.)

I'm going to do NOTHING this weekend but sleep and get totally better.  NOTHING.  And I won't feel guilty!!

    *cough*

  • Vent: If you saw my post over on H&F, you know what it is already, but kinda sick to death of being called "anorexic" because I'm running/training 6 days a week and I refuse to eat crap and be complacent about my lifestyle. This has been an especially difficult week for me mentally and physically as I've been sidelined with a pretty big running injury.

AW: Yesterday a doc bought me coffee at work just because I'm apparently "awesome."

Confession: I'm not excited about the fact that my hubby is now going to be working M-F 3PM to 11:30PM shifts and going to school during the day for his pre-med stuff. I know it's necessary, but I'd love to have my husband back. Some days I'm really excited for him in this journey. Today's just not one of them.

I had a cold this week so I was doing the same thing.  I love that brief instant where the one nostril is clear and it hasn't moved to the other one yet.

  • Vent: So many.

AW: I'm knocked up again.  Wasn't planned, complete BC fail.  We are excited and freaked all at the same time.  I am super stoked about being on mat leave over Thanksgiving and Christmas though!

Confession: I want to sit on my couch and eat mass quanities of junk food this weekend.  I am exhausted and I wanna be lazy.

  • first of all...CONGRATS mb...that's how my son came about also!!  lol

Vent:  I got totally turned off by an EXTREMELY rude person at the gym on Tuesday night.  To the point I am now hell bent on going only wen noone else is there.  I will admit I am just starting out and would like to lose 100 pounds.  But if I am making an effort and trying by walking (at a decent pace) on the treadmill, don't just off the one next to me and say (loud enough for me to hear) "this is grossing me out, I have to move"  while looking straight at me.   I was so hurt, I wanted to leave but so pissed off, I stayed so I could torture him.

AW:  I am nearing about 4 quilts to be done then to send them off to be quilted.

Confession:  I have nothing fun or juicy....  :(

Eff him.  Seriously.  Is it possible you misinterpreted what he meant?  Maybe he was passing gas and thought you smelled it?  Big Smile  Don't let someone else's issues get in the way of you making great strides towards being healthy!!

Aww, mush don't feel bad about it, people always have an opinion on everything!  I've been there as well, especially when I was pregnant and only gained 18lbs!  People seriously thought I should look like a beached whale, but they ate crow when I delivered a 8lb 13oz baby!

I've lost 100lbs and got it all the time, but now I've maintained that weight loss and people have let it go a bit because I look healthy, as I'm sure you do as well.

  • naw...it was directed at me.  And to be honest, I left out a part.  Because honestly, it was a bit vindictive on my part.  Devil

After he walked to another machine...I waited about 20 minutes and "decided" to go on the stationary bike....that was right next to him....he lasted about 10 minutes and left.  I laughed for the next half hour.....

  • Congrats Molly!

AW: 1. This is going to make me sound/look like one of those crazy pet people.. but I adore our pets. I really adore our dogs, and I do love our cats, but our two dogs together gives me so much freaking joy I can't stand it. I feel a bit embarassed to admit my cats don't make me feel quite the same way.. although I do love them too! :) I'm just really enjoying having Jenson in our house - even though he's having a rough transition to the crate and keeping Joe up most of the night with his whining..
    2. I'm struggling to find the correct words - Joe has surprised me (maybe not surprised, but made me excited?) with how excited and informed he now is regarding puppy mills, rescues, etc. He even posted a few links to his FB wall about pet-related news that I hadn't even seen yet. I honestly think that people (myself included initially) don't know/understand/aren't even aware of the crazy mistreatment of animals and the puppy mill/breeding conditions. It only takes learning about them, and sharing it with others in a positive, non-threatening way, that can teach a person so much. I'm grateful that I've learned, and that Joe has been open to learn, and I find his embracing of the issues to be really cool. :) Of course, I have zero regrets about where we got Chloe - her breeder is fantastic and many within the MNBR had heard of them with good things to say, so it just confirms that we did our homework with her.

Confession: I've been eating a lot of crap this week.. but to balance it out, I have been having oatmeal (not the crappy sugar instant stuff) for breakfast for the past 2 weeks and my body appreciates the healthy, fiber-filled breakfast. TMI?

Oh boy - sounds like they should film a reality show at your gym! Wink  The dude has to be a complete tool box.  Let him be stupid and huffy while you're working hard to look great.

That is all really awesome.  I too ADORE my dogs.  I am so gaga over the moon for them it's ridiculous.  :-)  I also have become really passionate about animal rescue and promoting adoption vs. buying (especially from a BYB or pet store.)  I'm also REALLY big into good nutrition.  It's hard though to not sound pushy or preachy when I tell people about the major popular brands being yucky and what a BIG difference good food makes!  DH has really been supportive of me making most of the pet related decisions.  He knows I do my research and will back up anything I choose for our boys. I know he's learned a lot too and has told his friends and coworkers about some pet related things that we've discovered together.  :-)

I also agree that teaching in a positive non-threatening way is key.  People don't want to hear that they made a mistake or are doing something bad.  When they feel threatened they shut down.  I think one of my biggest beefs with the Pets board is that a lot of the regulars automatically jump all over someone for making a "bad" choice.  That completely turns people off.  Why not peacefully educate someone so they can make a good choice next time around?

Oh boy...I should stop before I write 10 pages.  Animal issues get me fired up.  :-)

I really want to go home and hug my puppies right now!! :-)  Aren't doggies the BEST??

  • Congrats mbgreenwalt! Your daughter is adorable and I am sure the next one will be too!

romarie- Go when you have time to go get some headphones on concentrate on the task at hand. I lol'd when I read that you followed him to the next station, way to show him he wasn't going to bring you down!

Vent- I really want to find a job closer to home but since DH goes to school and works from home I need to stay at my current job so that we have insurance.

Confession- I haven't worked out at all this week, which is not like me at all. I usually get up at 4:30 every morning to workout at least 6 times a week.

AW- I leave for Mexico on Wednesday!!!! This snow storm better not mess up my travel plans!

  • Vent: People who post everything about their pregnancy on facebook, seriously the morning you take your test is NOT the right time to announce to the world.

  • Vent: I hate to be the one to bring down the happy puppy vibe, but honestly, our foster is driving me bonkers....and it is totally not his fault.  He had girardia, and gave it to Popeye, so for a week and a half, they both had runny diarrhea and Miles was pooping in the house.  As soon as that cleared up, he got a UTI, and was peeing in the house, even while being let out every 2 hours. Now he has taken to crying at night.....we have now gone 4 days with him crying for hours. I am exhausted. Also, he has separation anxiety so he cries when we leave the house.  I mean, loud enough that my neighbors have called me about it.  We have tried about 15 different things to remedy this, to no avail. I kind of feel trapped in my own home because none of the typical methods of fixing this are working. :(

AW: On the upside, the boys get along so well it makes my heart melt. They just curled up to take a nap together. They are like 2 peas in a pod. Love them!  ALSO, my sister is having her baby this month!  I can't wait to meet my new niece or nephew!

CONFESSION: My DH has to leave for training for his new job next Saturday, and I won't see him forat least 4 months. :( I am a wreck. I am so happy for him, and for this opportunity, but I hate this part. I am usually a very independant person, but now that I won't have my husband around for awhile, I am kind of a mess. :(

Lots of love and continual explosions of babydust to my BG Besties! XOXOXOXO

  • vent:  I'm really bad at always second guessing myself - even I'm starting to get sick of my insecurity.

confession:  I took my kids to McDonald's playland for lunch and ended up talking to a grandpa there.  The guy started out saying that he was out "scrapping" (and he looked every bit of it).  What an eye-opening conversation, he was the most well-spoken person I've talked to in a long, long time.

aw: I started a team weight loss thing at the gym today with my SIL.  Felt good to get my butt kicked by a trainer.

  • Vent: I want a new job.  I work ALL THE TIME right now and there are times when I go 2 days without seeing DD awake.  I leave the house before she gets up and I get home way after she goes to bed.  I am currently trying to write up a proprosal for a new position to be created that would fit exactly what I want to do, with much more normal hours.

AW:  We finally ordered the new carpet for our living room so by the end of the month we should be completely finished with our downstairs floor.  We've only been working on it since October!!!

  • Vent - I was uber cranky all week at school.  I told my kids to WATCH OUT.  Hopefully this week is better.  Not quite sure why I was so cranky either - could be PMS, but usually I'm not this bad.  Who knows.  It's probably just my sewing classes.

AW - Not much, except I'm selling a lot of stuff on eBay these days.  I'm getting rid of some single girl clothes that don't fit anymore.  Sad We've sold over $400 since last July, and it's all stuff that's just sitting around.  Feels good to get rid of stuff!

Confession - I'm having a hard time managing money.  We can't seem to keep balances off our cards right now.  Really frustrating, since we've planned a big vacation for June.  My goal is to get rid of one card before then.
