Great Brunch in Uptown or St Louis Park

Want to do Sunday Brunch this sunday?.looking for a great place that we could still get a reservation to.  I like breakfast buffets, but would be fine with a gourmet breakfast somewhere.

Anyone been the haunted inn in Annandale?  We stayed there and had fresh made scones, butter cream, and eggs benedict.  It was to die for and I would love to find something like that.

Re: Great Brunch in Uptown or St Louis Park

  • I found out yesterday that Cooper in West End, SLP does a brunch from 10-2 on Sat/Sun and they take reservations.  My friend and I are doing brunch there next weekend actually.

Good Day Cafe has yummy brunch but they don't take reservations and are usually really busy on weekend mornings.  :-(

eta:  Do you mean Thayers B&B right on 55?  We drive by it on the way out to the cabin! :-)  I didn't realize it's haunted.

  • Yes, we tired Thayer Inn off of a coupon.  I still dream of their breakfast....it was so good.  I am not sure what is happening to it, the woman who owns it sent out a thing pretty much saying goodbye.  She didnt say where she was going just that she would keep doing the same kind of stuff and that she was taking the ghost kitties with her.  I guess it won an award for 10th most haunted inn in the county so I find it odd they are closing it.
  • How about Hot Plate?  It's a smaller little diner kind of place, but we tried it for the first time a few weekends ago... it was awesome!  I'm not sure if you can do reservations or not though.
  • The Independent in Calhoun Square has a brunch buffet as well as a bloody mary bar that's pretty good. I also just went a few weeks ago to Bar Abilene, which I wouldn't think of for brunch, but I think it's pretty recent for them - anyways, they had like 5 plates for 5.95 each on the brunch menu, but the ones we had were amazing and they had a bloody mary bar.

Can you tell the bloody mary bar is the part I like best about brunch?

Also agree with pp about Hot Plate, it's in South Mpls - great food and cute place!

  • My absolute favorite place for brunch is Cafe Maude...very cozy, great menu, it's never too crowded and you can make reservations through Open Table. It's in southwest Minneapolis. In Uptown, my favorite is French Meadow...but we typically try to get there before 10 a.m. to beat the crowd.

  • Good Day Cafe is one of my favorite places, but I agree with pp that it can be tough to get in, as they are quite busy on weekends.  It's totally worth it if you want to wait.  I would also recommend YUM, which is at the corner of Hwy 7 and Minnetonka Blvd near Calhoun.  It's a little more casual where you order at the counter but they definitely live up to their name... yummy!!  Happy brunching :)

  • My mom said he favorite restaurant in Uptown was Tryg?s and she wanted me to see if they had brunch.  They did have brunch so we went there.  I which I would have taken some of  advice off here.  There food was a bit funky for me.  They had a couple benedicts, but no normal kinds.  They had ham on the menu so I asked if I they could make me the salmon benedict with ham.  The bun it came on was good, but overall it didn?t taste anything like beneditc.  It was pretty much hard boiled eggs on a biscuit with ham.  Two of the people we went with ate there whole plates pretty quick, but they said it was ?just ok? so they were either lying or starving.  There were very few people there but it took forever to get to order.  I guess Tryg?s  is more of a dinner place.

I have a friend that moved to that area so there are several weekends we are looking for brunch locations, I will have to try out some of your suggestions next time.
