Organizing Shoes?

I have a pretty nice shoe collection and want ideas on how to organize them. Many of the boxes are old and I cant tell whats in them. Please help with some of your ideas....

Re: Organizing Shoes?

  • If you want to keep them in the original boxes you could take photos of each pair and affix the photo to the outside of the box.

They also have some great shoe storage options at the container store.

  • I was just searching for a solution to this.  We just bought a house that has one really small bedroom that I'm going to use as a closet for now.  I just came across this option and am considering it.  Not sure how much space you have but it also comes in a single panel.

  • I have a canvas shoe holder.  Not the kind with a slot for each shoe, the kind that hangs down from a closet pole and with 10 spaces going down - one for every pair of shoes (although I can get 2-3 pairs of flip flops in one).  My less fancy shoes (sheakers) and boots I have a rack at the bottom of my closet.
  • I bought shoe boxes from the Container store, they are see through and the walls are straight so you don't lose the space on the bottom and can fit your shoes.  I also used the mens shoe boxes for my ankle boots and really high heels and the boot boxes for shoes and my purses.

I have a really large closet and lots of shelves to store them on and it goes great but they also stack.  Its made a world of difference for me!

  • If you need new boxes, I agree with getting clear containers at the container store or even costco has them on occasion.  If the boxes are holding up, I've heard of people doing like PP said with putting a photo on the outside and then stacking somewhere that works for you.
