What kind of cloth diapers did you make?  Was it difficult??

Re: ~Andrea~

  • I followed Rita Rump's pattern. It wasn't too difficult if you have a basic knowledge of sewing. Really the hardest part was the elastic. But, I would recommend buying some cheap fabric and making a few before you buy any kind of good fabric.

A couple of people have recommended the Very Baby pattern and the NykiBaby pattern, but you need to pay for both of those, and I'm no where near good enough to start paying for patterns! Haha

Here's what the Rita's Rump looks like:

  • Wow!  I am so impressed Andrea!  That is so cool.  I have a very limited knowledge of sewing.  I just started, and so far have only been successful at making a few skirts, and a cape for a little boy.  Ha ha ha.  Pretty easy stuff.  I will have to keep at it so I can take on some bigger projects.  I want to make simple curtains for the nursery.
  • If you made the the skirts with a pattern and know how to follow one, you'll be fine with a diaper. Really, the only hard part is the elastic. I had to ask my mom to help me figure that one out. But I'm in a no way good at sewing, so if I can do it then anyone can! It's totally trial and error, and luckily it's pretty forgiving (if you look up close, it isn't nearly as good as it looks from a distance Stick out tongue)

  • Ha ha ha ha.  I think they look great!

I actually did not use a pattern to make the skirts.  I had found this website with the most simple sewing projects, and none of them called for patterns.  It is all just measurements.  I did the same with the cape I made.  I took measurements of the child, and then just made it.  I should try to do something with a pattern.  I'll let you know if I try to attempt the diapers!

  • Yeah, let me know. And don't be intimidated, they really aren't too difficult!
