Resume Objectives?

I've heard mixed reviews on whether or not I need an objective on my resume.  I'm getting to the point where I need to start applying for jobs as a registered Nurse (AHHHH I'm so excited!)

My objective is to obtain a career to be a registered nurse.

Some people say get rid of the objective some people say keep it... thoughts?   Rules?  I'm so dumb when it comes to this kinda stuff.

Thanks!
Katherine

Re: Resume Objectives?

  •  Unless your resume/cover letter doesn't make it clear what type of position you're looking for, leave it off.

  • Butting in

but I don't have a cover letter , is it better to have a cover letter vs an objective?

  • Absolutely. A cover letter will set you apart. It will tell the recruiter you actually took the time to consider the submission as opposed to clicking "send my stock resume to 10 places."  Wink
