Unused Registry Items?

I just treated myself to a Friday afternoon latte and thought to myself..if you learned how to use the espresso machine, you could totally make these at home.

We registered for & got a dual espresso/coffee machine and attemped to steam milk once without success...so now months later, we still only use the coffee portion of the machine.

Anyone else have things they received from the wedding but yet to use?

Re: Unused Registry Items?

  • We haven't used our food processor.  The house we're in now has very little kitchen space, so our small appliances are downstairs in storage.  I imagine once we get into the new house and are able to keep kitchen stuff in the kitchen, we'll use more.

  • Oh absolutely.  We knew this was our one chance to get the good stuff, even if we won't use them right away.

We have a large food processor, no need for that yet with just the two of us.  We have a mandolin, which I can't seem to get myself to use yet when I only chop veggies once a week right now.  We have a few more useful items that are currently collecting dust but I know I'll use later on.

I even have some ridiculous stuff that has been used once or twice.  Like a waffle maker, and a mini deep fryer. I love them, but they're not for common use.

  • We did not get very many gifts, but I am pretty sure that we have used every gift that we were given... Minus the 2 that we returned Embarrassed

You've only used your waffle maker once or twice???  Man!  I love making waffles!  Sadly, I don't make them completely from scratch, but Krusteaz has a mix that is really, really good...and easy to make.

I LOVE thick "homemade" waffles with butter, confectioner's sugar, and strawberries...yum!!!

This post is really making me want to have that for dinner instead of the planned grilled chicken!

OK - back to the original topic - I think we have actually used everything we received at our showers and wedding!

  • We have tons of stuff we haven't used like corningware dishes, mixing bowls, an indoor grill...we just used our large griddle yesterday for the first time.  We don't have much space in our kitchen but knew we would want these things down the line, so they are just in the boxes they came in in our hall closet until we get a bigger place.

  • I have some decorative stuff I haven't put up yet, and we used a gift card for the bed in a bag for our new bedroom, which we're still remodeling and don't have the bed for...

Lol, I was thinking the same thing!  We use Krusteaz too!  And seem to make waffles at least twice a month.
  • We have pretty much used everything we got off our registry, except maybe the cake stand. Our blender hasn't gotten much use, because we use the food processor more, but it has been used at least once. We just got a mini deep fryer last weekend and Nick has already used it twice. We made chicken nuggets and turkey meatballs with it. Yum.

This.  The only stuff we've received but haven't yet used are our fancy table linens and some of the dishes from our china set.  We only received a few of the china pieces anyway, but we don't even have a TABLE in our apartment right now.  We sit and eat at our kitchen island.  Some day when we have a house and a nice table, we'll be able to use our beautiful linens, and by then we'll hopefully have the complete set of our china.

  • We also didn't get a whole lot of stuff, But almost all of it has been used...I got a sewing machine and I can't seem to figure it out...so it sits in the guest room...waiting for someone to tell me how to work the dang thing!

  • We haven't used a single piece of our fine china yet (it's in the top cupboard), but we also bought a pattern of every-day-fine-china and love it (it's a very simple white bone china from Bed Bath & Beyond, that's pretty tough to break, is microwave, dishwasher, and oven safe).

We haven't used our stick blender yet, and I've only used our food processor once...

  • We have tons...

Still in the box: a new knife block (with knives), a set of Pyrex, food processor, a cake plate/punch bowl

in the closet: frames, towels, candles, a cookbook stand, photo albums, towel rings for the bathroom, throw blankets...

Pretty sure most of the gifts we received will still be unused for quite a while.

  • We did bring back a couple things to Macy's.  Ross didn't want anything to do with the registries, and when we opened these (a mini deep fryer and a waffle maker, funnily enough) he went all kitchen snob on me.  I said, well, that's what you get for not helping.

While we got mostly money, we also got a lot of weird stuff that we didn't register for (some of you may remember the world's creepiest throw blanket).

    I really want a waffle maker.  I think I'll do a s/o.

  • We haven't used a lot of our serveware yet.  We usually host Thanksgiving, but we were on our honeymoon this year so it sat unused.  We also have a lot of spring/summer get togethers so things will eventually get used then!

We got a mini deep fryer for a gift and Jason is obsessed with it lol.  Try making handcut fries, they are amazing in there.

  • We have used a lot of what we got except some towels (apparently I miscounted when I registered and now we have a ton oops), pressure cooker and indoor griddle. We have a decent sized kitchen just haven't found a need to use a lot of the more specialty appliances yet.

Otherwise we have used pretty much everything :) Oh and the waffle maker stays out I love it!

  • We haven't used most of our wedding presents yet because they are sitting at my parents' house until we close on our house (hopefully mid-April).  There really wasn't enough space in our apartment, and I didn't feel like moving a bunch of stuff all the way to Michigan for a few months and then hauling it all back to NY.  I'm so looking forward to using our new dishes (everyday and fine china), all our cool new serving pieces, and my spiffy red kitchenaid stand mixer.

  • I should PIP our "wedding gift" room, yes, I said room, there is an entire bedroom that is full of unused things. We (aka Lance) finally got a bunch of the stuff put into the new cabinets yesterday. I had a Pampered Chef shower and I got all of the Simple Additions serving pieces so I have a lot of stuff that won't get used very frequently.

The thing I use the most is probably my trifle bowl, I love that thing and especially love all of the delicious things that I have made in it!
