Saturday Afternoons Can Be Dangerous Too :D

I worked this morning, but then had to trade clothes at the cleaners, to the tune of $70 - yikes.  E said yesterday he didn't realize that dry cleaning was such a hefty part of our budget.

But then, before getting my hair cut, I stopped by The Container Store.  One of my face painting groups is running a belated Secret Santa that's been dubbed Secret Valentine instead (with gifts to be delivered by March 30).  My recipient said she loves anything that keeps her organized, including little boxes, and prefers lots of little things or a few medium things to one big thing because it's more fun.  So I was planning to hit The Container Store anyway... but THIS MORNING got an email from them that the very sort of stuff I'd be looking for was on sale!  So I was able to get her a ton of stuff, and then put some soap in too.  I went over the stated limit, but my recipient is a total sweetheart who once sent me the the face painting marketing book/materials she SELLS as part of her business and stuff she teaches for money... for free, just because I said I wanted to grow my FP business.

So... $35 later (on a $20-25 limit) plus soap, the gifts are all wrapped and ready to go into a shipping box & head for Canada.

But dude, they would've cost so much MORE if they weren't on sale!

  • We used to spent $70 every two weeks at the (old) cleaners we went to -- now we go to one of those $1.99 a piece places and its literally $30 a month now.  Yes, we now realize what a rip off the old cleaners was.

I PPH the Container Store - but the closest one it 30 miles away, so I usually " window shop " on line.

No worries, I always exceed the limit on gift exchanges.

  • Fun! Good shopping!

  • Yeah, I've been bringing cleaning every week & it was still $70.  Next week will be $45.  With this job having me in court almost every day, and on the weekends wearing sweaters because it's been so freakin' cold, I've been wearing a LOT of dry clean stuff.  It should get a little better in the summer.

I do love my cleaners, though.  They knock off some of the $ every time I go (it was supposed to be over $70) and today they gave me an extra Dunkin Donuts coffee they had hanging around.

And then I felt so good after shopping - that "I know I got the perfect gift" feeling.  It's all wrapped really pretty and ready to go... just need a shipping box!

  • Pretty wrapping!

I love The Container Store, but I live a good three hours away from the nearest one...so I barely get to go there. I'd live there if there was one closer. :P

  • OMG, it's a very dangerous place for me.  Very.  And it's close.
  • Don't even know about this store.  But your Secret Valentine is spoiled.  Can I be your secret Valentine, PLEASE.  I live in Canada...  That's gotta count for something.  *smiles largely*
March 09 Siggy Challenge image Melting Snow... because it means that spring is actually on the way and it's not snowing or cold.
  • Lol, thanks. And I'm kinda glad the store might not exist in Canada... that means she might not have seen this stuff otherwise.
