Organized Garage
So we just finished organizing our garage. We transferred all of our stuff from cardboard boxes to plastic.

Wow it looks great! Ironically, we are tackling the same thing this weekend hopefully it turns out as good!
It looks great but I have to comment on number 5 on your list.
While I know several people who have encased their water heaters in peg board or other materials, it's not a good idea. It needs air circulation and enclosing it is a huge fire hazard.
When we bought our house (also in CA), the water heater was basically in a cabinet. Our home inspector said we had to remove it within a certain number of days of owning the home.
