So, my baby shower was yesterday. Unfortunately, the guests were apparently never told where we registered, so while our little man now has a TON of clothes (exactly why I didn't want anyone to know the sex in the first place) and blankets, we didn't get any of the essentials.
I'm now on the hunt for the best bargains on CD's to get that stash going. I'm thinking we (I, the laundry doer) will do best with One-Size, pockets or AIO's. Which sites have the best prices/deals?
And, anyone else have some to sell? email me all the details at chayer227 at hotmail dot com. THANKS!!!
Re: CD bargains?
Maine Cloth Diaper Company in Damariscotta usually has some sales. Sign up for the newsletter. Most of the other sites I shop (Diaper Junction, Cotton Babies, BumRite Diapers) all have newsletters too. Diaperpin.com is the go to place to find deals (or so the little birdy called the Cloth Diaper board says, lol).
I know right now, Fuzzibunz is having a sale (buy 12 OS and get a free hanging pail) and Cotton Babies has the BG artist series (OS were $80 for all 5, which is essentially buy 4 get one free).
If you are looking for a cheaper off brand, you can buy Kawaii or MCDC has Huggabunz. I like them except for if you don't have the rise set right, the front panel slips out. You'd have to look at the website and see the diaper to understand what I'm talking about.
As far as all the clothes, I did my best guess at returning and got what I needed from that store. IE, Walmart carries Child of Mine, Targtet=Just One Year, etc...so you can exchange that way.
It is so frustrating, I had probably $400 in stuff I DIDN'T register for or need. Good luck!
Don't forget you can stalk Swap Spot and the Cloth Diaper board on the bump for used, sometimes NIP.
Diaperswappers.com and Spots Corner on Hyena Cart are recommended by the girls on the CD board. Ebay, Craigslist too.
diaperpin.com
This sums up an array of CD sales.
You have my complete sympathy over the lack of useful baby shower gifts. (Not that clothes aren't useful, but you know what I mean.) The exact same thing happened to me. Only two people bought anything off my registry, my MIL (who was responsible for sending out the invitations without registry info), and one Nestie. Even my own mom didn't buy from my registry, although she felt bad for me after my shower and went out and bought me my bathtub and diaper genie.
If you want to try old fashioned diapers, I have several Gerber diaper service quality prefolds that were only ever used as burp rags.
If you're looking for any particular baby gear, I still have several items in my attic that I haven't sold off yet. I've been taking it bit by bit to Children's Orchard in Newington, but I'm happy to make a Nestie a good deal instead. Off the top of my head, I still have a blue bathtub, a yellow bouncer seat (a basic one, nothing fancy), a Fisher-Price playmat, a snap-n-go stroller, a green BeBe Pod (like the Bumbo, but with a tray), a pack-n-play (color: gray with a little pink), a Superyard, two Boppy pillows (with girl pattern covers), a Jumperoo, a neural colored Fisher-Price papasan swing, a wood nursing stool.
MF & Sweetpea: I think my work is doing a shower on Thursday - I've seen it on the calendar of two of the attorneys I work with, but I'm not getting my hopes up (no one there even got me a card acknowledging our wedding).
I'll see how things go with that (again, nothing new has been bought from my registry, but maybe they're waiting until the last minute...) and we're expecting a package (hand-me-downs - reportedly a Boppy included - and new stuff) from my SIL mid-week. At that point, and when I regroup and write out TY cards, I'll see what I have and what I need/want. Most things I'd prefer to buy used anyway, but I'm totally overwhelmed with all that's been shifted to our own need-to-buy list, and we're trying to figure out the budget.
We totally appreciate the offers, and would love to help Nesties out in return.
MA&CB: I'm doing out the math and looking at the budget for your offer too. Things are looking good.
My Wedding Bio! Not updated in a LONG time!
I may also have used BG 3.0s to sell, but not for a little while. Ridley is pretty well potty-trained during the day but is still in diapers at night. I would probably sell them for $7-$9 a piece. They are all in very good condition.
I also have a Boppy (blue fleece with white polka dots) that I hardly ever used that I would part with for $10 and a navy blue Eddie Bauer Pack n' Play that I would be willing to sell for $35. If you are interested in any of these things, you can email me at kcloutie at bates dot edu.
