Question (NBR)

i dont know if its my hormones or what, but I wake up at night sweating so bad! But at the same time I am shivering...aka cold sweats. But I cant seem to do anything about it, i tried wearing shorts and I even sweat then. We cant really open a window since its winter and out heat in the house isnt that high in the first place. WWYD? I am just sick of waking up dripping in sweat.

TIA

Re: Question (NBR)

  • Yes, I do believe that would be your body adjusting to the sudden drop in hormones, kind of like how when a woman is going through menopause and experiences hot flashes and such.

I did a little research and I found that it's normal for some women to experience this especially at night as it is another way for the woman's body to get rid of the excess fluid gained during pregnancy. It says it should be most prominent during the first week and should subside by the end of the first month. No worries!

  • My boss who had her baby in October, warned me of the sweating. She said it worked best to sleep on towels, with clean ones next to the bed so she could switch them out in the night as needed. And she didn't have to change the sheets quite as often.

  • It was horrible for me after having Xander. I would go through a few nursing night gowns/pjs a night.

  • Same thing happened to be after Kiley. I would sweat so crazy during the night. It only lasted like 2-3 weeks.
  • Yup, I hated it! I slept on a towel it was so bad - just totally soaked! Like Puggs said, it only lasted about 3 weeks. I asked the doc about it when I went to my appointment when I had mastitis and she explained it.
