  • I'm so sorry your family has to go through that.  I work with people with addictions and most of the time I spend time counseling and working with the family to show them how they're enabling the person.  I hope your MIL can go to ALANON sometime to learn how not to enable her son.  Might not be a bad idea if your H needs support for himself to go to ALANON as well.  He might be able to at least get some support and  a place to vent.

  • That's so frustrating! I know I won't be a perfect parent, and I sure hope that I don't make those kind of mistakes. It's challenging for me to sit and watch people continue to mess us their lives. I've often thought about Alanon for me, as there is alcoholism on DH's aide of te family as well and it's hard to deal with. Maybe if you go, it will help you deal and maybe also encourage your DH to go too?
