Help setlle debate with DH re: vacuuming
DH says that if we vacuumed our rugs more often it would help with the wear and tear of the carpet, and keep our carpets lasting longer in years. I get what he's saying, however, we're not overly dirty people tracking in mud on a daily basis, or ruining the carpets in any way like that. I say sure, vacuuming makes the carpets look nice and keep them cleaner, but wear and tear on a carpet comes from everyday use in a house in general. FWIW - vacuuming gets done on average about once every other week. WDYT?
Re: Help setlle debate with DH re: vacuuming
My neighbor just had new carpeting installed and the store told her to vacuum every single day. She laughed!
We also have a friend in the business and he says 3-4 times a week and I think that it definitely helps with the wear and tear and the matting down of it from oil and dirt. he said that it will defnitely help with the fraying and extend the life of your carpet. I love to vacuum - but cannot possibly see doing it every day all over the house. I do, however do our main areas every day/every other.
Amen!

MH chimed in (of course) and says that the vacuum wears carpet... b/c of the sweeper. I can see his point too--
I vacuum our carpets 1-2x/ week at best so what do I know?!

HAHA, I agree with this!
i've also heard that even though you think you're not tracking much dirt thru the house, if you walk around barefoot, the oils from your feet can attach to the carpet and attract more dirt and cause some matting in a high traffic area.
something along those lines... we all still walking around barefoot though.
