Mobile or Crib Soother?

We are thinking of getting a mobile or crib soother to put on the crib when we move B to his room. Something with music/sounds and lights to help him fall asleep. Any suggestions?

Re: Mobile or Crib Soother?

  • This is neither of which but a lot of people swear by the seahorse that is similar to the gloworm. Ana is just now not freaked out by hers, but it plays soothing music, the tummy lights up, and you hear water/bubbles while it sings. It plays for 5 minutes and then the light and music phases out and gets quieter until it's off.

I've also heard great things about the ocean wonders crib soother. I've seen many of them at consignment shops around town.

  • We have both the rainforest soother and mobile.  When K was little (six months and under) the soother didn't interest him much and he loved his mobile.  However after about six months, he could care less about the mobile and is all about the soother.  K still uses the soother @ 18 months to go to bed (he turns it on himself).
  • We had an old school Ocean Wonders type soother for Sophia and she loved it.  It had a timer on it for how long it played and also projected the image onto the ceiling so it worked sort of like both a soother and mobile.  I'm not sure if the new ones do that.  Unfortunately, it stopped working so I'll have to search out a new one for this LO.

  • We have the Rainforest soother too. Cohen loved it, and AJ still does. The boys had opposite sleeping styles/habits, but it worked really well for both of them. I consider it one of the few baby items I couldn't have lived without.
Happy mom to two sweet, silly boys: Cohen age 4, AJ age 2.
  • Thanks for the suggestions girls! I think we may get the rainforest soother! Mrs.Reem I totally know about the seahorse- Ella has one here and one at the sitter! :) She calls him "C" and he is a must have when she goes to bed. Its funny because sometimes in the middle of the night we will hear her turn him on and say "Sing to me C." So cute :)
