This was my post last week
I applied for the job Thursday evening and got the generic confirmation email from HR:
Thank you for your interest in this position XXXXX
I was in the process of crafting an email per the nesties advice to the HO. However, I was not working on Friday so I did not get a chance to send the email and my plan was to email the HO today. Instead the HO contacted me directly on Friday morning.
This was the email the HO sent me from his personal email:
Dear Ms. XXXX:
Thank you for your interest in XXXXX and for providing your application and supporting materials. Your application materials have been forwarded to the Search Committee. The Search Committee is currently reviewing all applications, and should the Committee decide that your qualifications fit our needs, we will contact you.
Best regards,
XXXXXX
Should I still send the email asking questions like what kind of person/traits/qualifications they are looking for in a competitive candidate?
Re: The HO contacted me-What to do?
ETA: the job description should be able to answer questions you have about what qualifications/traits a successful candidate will have.

I agree with pp, they've contacted you so now you get the fun job of waiting and hoping your qualifications meet theirs and you are called for an interview. Good luck.
Thanks everyone. I definitely met their qualifications so now just hoping that they love my work and that I get an interview.
Again thanks for all the great information.
