Re: Open Question
My dad inspires me. Seeing what he went through and how much he sacrificied to give us the life we have amazes me everyday. My parents divorced when I was 4 and it was bitter to say the least. As much as I love my mom, she is a *** to deal with. She tortured him through it all. However, we never once felt the effects when we were at his house. He worked hard to make sure we never wanted for anything. When I told him I wanted to go to a private high school, he worked two jobs to pay for it and even struggled with those. Now he takes care of my grandmother who is 82 and suffering from alzeimers essentially by himself and still manages. I love him so much and am grateful everyday for having him in my life.
Ok now I am crying...thanks Montana
My grandfather inspired me, he was my favorite person. He was so giving and helped everyone he could.
After he beat cancer the first time, he bought a "cancer van" for his town and hired and paid for a driver to take people to their appointments when they did not have someone to take them.
He also opened a thrift store and food bank. Whenever a family had a tragedy, he would donate food, clothes, toys, etc. to get them back on their feet.
He payed for several trips for teens in his church that otherwise would not be able to go on youth trips or mission trips.
He would buy groceries and deliver them to the elderly (even though he was elderly himself).
Everyone in how town knew and loved him, and could go to him if they needed help with anything.
He passed away during his second battle with prostate cancer one year ago on 03/10 and I still miss him every day.
My Dad inspires me. He quit school in Grade 11 to work at the mine in town and he worked at a job that he hated for 38 years just so he could provide for his family.
Even though he doesn't have a fancy degree, or even a high school diploma, he's one of the smartest people I know. I often feel really bad that he didn't have the opportunity to reach his full potential.
