So, Andy's broken leg is healing nicely, and he should be able to do some walking without his orthopedic boot in about week (still using crutches for awhile).
The problem is ... his ankle and foot on the injured leg are really swollen. Really. He can't even get close to getting any of his regular shoes on his foot. Since his doctor said that he should expect swelling for up to 6 months due to the severity of the surgery he had, he's going to need some bigger shoes to wear. We went shopping last weekend, thinking that if we went up a size and got wide width shoes that would probably work, but no luck. He normally wears size 11 in a medium width, and we were trying size 13 wide shoes, and he couldn't get his foot into them.
Any suggestions on stores that carry extra wide shoes?
I hesitate to buy online since I think he really needs to try them on, and I don't want to get stuck paying for return shipping if I order online and they don't fit.
Re: shoes - where to buy really wide ones?
Hmmm, big & tall stores might work. I don't think of those since Andy doesn't normally fit into the big/tall category.
Anyone know of big/tall stores in the south metro? I'll google too, but if there are recommendations, I'll take them.

We got my dad's Christmas present at the Foursome and their customer service was absolutely top notch. I would be surprised if they didn't have some wide width shoes.
I know that Nordstroms carries some of the bigger sizes in women's shoes...I wonder if that also applies in the men's department? Might be worth a phone call.
Tired after a long morning of hiking and swimming.
Yes - checked their website and they have shoes up to 4E! Thanks ...

That would be awesome, because he obviously doesn't need a 13 4E or whatever on the good foot, and it would be awkward to wear shoes that are really big on the foot that's actually functioning well.
Thanks for all the suggestions!
