Nursery decal thoughts

I guess I will be today's AW LOL.

I think I would like to go more little girl than baby with the nursery and loved this decal but in dark brown (the walls will be a creamy yellow color). DH however said his first thought was that it was sort of creepy, like scary movie creepy little girl type of thing. Now I may have just planted that in your head but I think it just looks whimsical. I am partial to swinging (themes) since my sister and I would spend ours daily in our backyard on our swingset.

  • I like it!

I've seen that decal before (not in person) and I think it's cute, not creepy.  Regardless, I love the symbolism of a tree.  Very cute!

  • Love the tree, want to use one in my own nursery one day.

The little girl, not so much. She's cute, but she also takes up valuable wall space so I couldn't put anything in front of the tree b/c it might block her.

  • I think it's cute. And, I really like that you're not going with the traditional "baby colors".

    I had the same thought.

It will go in a corner with the girl part being flat but the center of the tree being centered on the corner. I couldn't do it otherwise as the room is too small.

Originally I just wanted a tree for the corner but found this and liked it. I am pretty simple with my decor though too and will not have a whole lot of hangings.

  • I picked this same one out and Chris said it was creepy as well! I really liked it.  PS. If you do plan on doing decals, etsy can be expensive I found the same one on ebay for 100.00 less, also Target has wall decals in the decor section.
  • I love that!

  • It is cute and with the other decor it will probably look more whimsical. I can see how he would think it is creepy though. I say go for it!

Thanks. I shared it with another nestie from my local and she said the creepy factor didn't cross her mind but once I said it to her she though maybe at night it could be.

Men!!! Thanks for the tips. This one though is about $100 (I think - it is on wallslicks) I have to measure the space for all I know it won't work at all. There are some other cute trees I could use too but I wanted a little 'oomph' since I will be so simple in a few other ways.

  • Awww, I absolutely love it! I think it's very sweet & whimsical. Seriously, it made me kind of nostalgic about warm summer evenings as a kid.

  • I dont' know if I really see it as creepy, maybe at night if a kid already has fear issues.  Also, you could tell her that it is her protector and will keep all the monsters away.

My cousin ordered one off of Etsy (at tree with birds/owls), she said it came in a million pieces.  I will be helping her put it up in the next few weeks so I'll let you know how that goes.

  • I really like the tree, but am not feeling the girl, I think she could start to be creepy.  What if you used the tree, but then you hang a picture of a swing above the crib or dresser - or even put one in a small frame on the dresser.  If your parents still have the swing take a picture of that one. You could do black and white or find a swing in the color your doing the room.
