Re: Monday Moans

  • MONEY is bugging me.

We finally got our taxes done this weekend. We were happy with what we were getting back...and then....all of these things that REQUIRE money popped up. The brakes on Ziggys car were already going, and now MINE are going (since that same day). Also that day, we discovered that one of the walls in our dining room is now leaking from the ceiling (ugh)...so thats probably a roof issue, and one of our garage doors broke. theres other stuff too that i cant remember at the moment

EVERYTHING ELSE is bugging me too!

I keep having random allergic reactions (bad ones) to some random food that i cant figure out, and suddnely my allergies are making me cough all the time :(

My older cat (well, she's just over a year) Rory has been peeing outside of her litter box and the vet ruled out all medical issues it could be. So its behavioral. I added another litter box in the house, didnt change to a new type of litter, been using an enzyme cleaner to clean up the spots (all carpet so its aggravating), but she's still done it in the same spots a few times. She's probably stressed out since i am!!

But now both her eyes are swollen this morning and shes losing hair on her kitty eyebrows (which was happening the last time i brought her to the vet -- 2 weeks ago adn the dr said to keep an eye on it). So now i have to call the vet to make her an appt. :(

I also had a super huge horrible scary anxiety attack on saturday night and was so out of it all sunday. I even scared the heck out of ziggy on saturday because i was freaking out and saying all types of weird things that i dont even remember. So now I have to make an appt for myself at the Dr!

I'm sure theres more...but i think this is enough for now.

  • I went to a baby shower for DH's best friend's wife (lets call her Jane), and her lack of social etiquette makes me want to scream. I didn't know anyone there because everyone at the party was family, or high school friends (I met her when she married DH's best friend, about 3 years ago). When I arrived, Jane's mother and aunt introduced themselves since Jane was busy making her way around the room, like a proper guest of honor. I sat down, and when Jane got to me, she said hi and asked how our drive was (mind you, DH and I drove 2.5 hours for this) and walked away. She didn't bother to introduce me to anyone and didn't say another word to me the entire party, not even a goodbye or thank you when I let her know I was leaving.

I don't know about you, but when I was younger I was taught that you introduce new arrivals to others, especially those who they are sitting near, and if you DO invite someone who doesn't know anyone else at the party, you make sure that they feel included by finding them someone you know they'll get along with, and introduce them to that person and say "oh, did you now, X likes/does this too" so they have common ground. I also learned that you make small talk for more than 10 seconds (instead of just going and hanging out with your friends), and make sure that when people leave that you thank them for coming, thank them for their generosity and wish them safe travels and say goodbye. Or is this just how *I* was brought up?

  • Honestly, I don't have too much to moan about right now.

I'm not really frustrated, just anxious really - to figure out this whole move back to Atlanta. I'm hoping that I'll be able to keep my job and work from the sales office we have down there - I spoke to my boss this morning and he's going to talk to the higher ups *hopefully* this week. If it all works out for me, we'll definitely be moving...so fingers crossed!!

Also, DH is sending our resume packets to a bunch of schools down there as well as applying for stuff online as it pops up. Fingers crossed that he gets something as well.

Umm...I guess my only moan is that DH and I are soooooo completely over living with MIL. We've been there for a year....and these last 8 months that we've been married - it doesn't even feel like it. Which stinks!

  • I hate stupid can openers!!  I don't know if it's just me, but I have had so much trouble with can openers.

I bought an electric one, it somehow got the lid stuck in it and won't come out.  So I threw it out, and forgot to buy a new one, so all weekend I had no can opener.

I brought veggie beans for lunch today, since we have a manual can opener at work, it was a total piece of *** and I almost threw the can of beans out the window.

    That's all I have today!

  • My car!  It has been costing me so much money this year and it is only March!  I took it for its inspection late January to a new shop that I've never tried but our neighbor recommended them.  I mentioned this load squeeling noise that my car makes sometimes when I am pulling out of a parking spot.  The machinics said that it was because 2 belts needed replaced.  Fine.  A couple weeks later it started again.  I held off taking it to the shop until last Friday when I was now told that it was the passenger side axle.  Got that replaced.  When I picked up my car from the shop, it smelled so strongly of cigarette smoke that I had to drive with my windows open despite the cold!  And the smell stuck around all weekend.  Yuck!  Then yesterday my car started to make a weird grinding noise whenever I hit the break and it sounded like it was coming from the passenger side.  So, I called the shop and they told me to bring it in again.  As I pulled out of my parking spot at work to go there, it squealed again.

Seriously?  They've replaced two different things now and I am still having the problem!

  • I feel like the worst wife ever... sort of rectified it now but still feel crappy.

DH's birthday is tomorrow, 3/8. A few months ago when the schedule came out I made sure to request not to work that night, asked him what he wanted me to make him for dinner, am planning on cleaning up and making it a super nice night for him.  DH and I usually don't really exchange presents.  He always tells me not to get him anything... although I usually try to get him something small.  He always treats me to things for my birthday, and I always feel bad.  Since this is the first year we're married, the first year I've had a steady income I really wanted to do something nice for him... even though we're trying to be smart and frugal about money with being in the home buying process.  But all of a sudden it was yesterday (Sunday, 2 days before his birthday) and I realized I had no idea what to get him :(  I didn't want to just go to ***'s or the local running store and get him something genericly manly, but I was beginning to feel the crunch and like that might have been my only option.

Puppy and I rakced our brains all morning.  I just bought the 2 of us tickets to a Brad Paisley concert in September- we have always wanted to go see him, so I think he'll be super excited and surprised (we hadn't even talked about going/tour dates).  So I think I rectified this situation, but I still feel bad I procrastinated :(  Hopefully he likes it!

  • I wish I didn't procrastinate.  I always have, and now I am going to be scrambling trying to finish my lecture by tomorrow so I can practice it before I give it!

And I wish I remembered last week that I can't use the upstairs bathroom this week b/c we are getting some plumbing work done... so that means it will be a pain to dye my hair tonight or tomorrow ngiht b/c we only have a pedestal sink in the basement bathroom.  And I don't have the time nor can I justify spending like 10x more to get it done in the salon.

That's it.  not much to complain about!

  • And the flood gates open...

I mostly have moans about my growing and uncomfortable body.  I somehow injured my foot and walking is a nightmare, but I'm pissed at my midwife for telling me not to bother calling my doctor b/c I should just wait til I have the baby.  Excuse me?!  That's like 10 weeks from now and I need to be able to walk in the meantime!!  Also, the girl scout cookies I ordered from a student (a month ago) came in today and I'm not allowed to eat any :(  I'm going to have to give them away because I can't bear to look at them.

Ok, I think I'm done.  Thanks for listening.

  • I don't have too many moans..I am just ready for this cold to be over.  Today is one day that I have felt like my well self...we will see if it continues or come back with a venegance!
  • My main moan is that my dog has been sick twice in the last 5 weeks and the vets have not figured out anything specific that is wrong. I know she is 10 years old, but she has always been very healthy. It is so frustrating and SO expensive. Uggh!
