those with IUD's

where did you get them put in at?  My dr's office doesn't put them in.  I know that Plannned Parenthood, Venus Family Planning, and Womens Health Services can do them... just wasn't sure if it mattered where I go.  Thanks.

Re: those with IUD's

  • My OBGYN did it.

Make sure and check with your insurance first to see what is (or is not) covered.  If it's not covered it can cost you well over 1k.

  • so you are happy with it right?  i'm scheduling it now but kinda freaking out about a foreign object in my cervix!  i just need a little encouragement.  =)
  • You don't even know it's there.  And if the strings are cut properly, neither will your husband.

  • That seems odd that your office won't do it, it is such a simple procedure.  My ob/gyn did it in the office - since insurance covered it it was a $20 co-pay to get it in, and $20 to get it out, extremely cheap BC.  But like molly said, be sure it is covered b/c it is really expensive otherwise.  I think you can get it at PP on a sliding scale though if your insurance doesn't cover it.

I love it.  I had it after Maya too, so this is my 2nd one.  I was totally freaked out too, but it's the best BC I've ever used.  I had to pay about $300 for mine, but it's totally worth it in the long run.

  • I got mine in Ames @ McFarland but just wanted to let you know I have been happy with it so far. Got it in late April and will have it for about 2 years when I get it removed (to TTC #2)

Ditto.  I was horrible about taking the pill.  I love my IUD as I don't have to think about it at all.  Oh, but load up on the ibuprofen before you go.  My OB rec 800mg.

  • I also got mine at WHS. I love it - with two little kids I can barely remember to brush my hair most days, so this was a great option for me. :)

  • Loved mine when I had it. No having to remember to take a pill and no period! My drs office made me pay for it up front and then I was refunded my money after insurance paid for it. I plan on getting another after my 6 week follow up appt.
