Had a possible job interview then did not?

I have been looking for a new job for the past couple weeks b/c my company is moving towards shared  services  between locations.  So last thurs morning I got  a call from  recruiter of a Large PR company. I was not able to  return the  call until that  afternoon and  left a message for a return call.  The  recruiters's voicemail  stated that  she was off on Fridays. The meant  I would not hear from  her till today. Ok, fine. So I waited  till  my lunch  and called  again (well,  actually, twice because I was not  sure about which  number I left). Well, the recruiter  called me back and stated that it was  filled in the sense an  offer was made. She told me that  she would keep  me in the pool for the if it fell  through. Does that  seem odd? I mean it is still listed on  company's website (  applied via my school's  job site). If it is not filled, why  would she called on day  to  talk to me and then the next  not want to?

Re: Had a possible job interview then did not?

  • They  may not have had time to take it off the site. She may have been asked to call around for additional candidates as a safety move. Someone may have hired a relative. They may have been really looking for internal candidates and talking to external people was a formality. Or a gazillion other things.
