birth control & sex drive...?
I've been on the same birth control for almost 6 years now... is it possible it could affect my sex drive? I just never wanna have sex anymore or either can't get into it
Just wondering if anyone else is/had the same problem & should I talk to my doctor about it?
Thanks,
Chris
Re: birth control & sex drive...?
Hey Chris -
I understand where you are coming from. I have been on LoEstrin 24 for almost a year now. It has completely killed my sex drive which sucks because I started it right after getting married. Maybe once every couple of weeks I have a period of time where I am in the mood - before I was taking FemCon, which was a close version to OvCon 35. I was fine on that pill, I switched to this one because of the cost.
Besides the decrease in sex drive I have lost over 15 pounds since I've been married - my appetite has just never been the same. I don't know if its a decrease in appetite or from being depressed as a side effect of the medication. I am trying to decide between completely going off the pill or switching - but I am afraid of gaining my weight back.
I am calling my doctor tomorrow because I refuse to let a pill ruin my sex life and its gotten ridiculous. What pill are you on?
I have had experience with both Loestrin and Nuvaring causing this side effect.
Honestly, going off birth control and just using condoms (which may not appeal to some of you) has actually been the best thing. DH is now used to condoms and says they don't bother him at all.
To each his own though, and an IUD may work for you as well.
I agree! It effects your sex drive! I was on the pill for more than 16 years and have gone off it now. It seems like I have more of a sex drive now more than ever! Strange how it can change the way you feel like that.
