and apparently I'm yelling
So I emailed my insurance guy.. oh that sounds so formal. It's my step brother. I'm annoying the crap out of him (I think) with emails
Basically this weekend I am going to a place in Framingham to look at a car I think I want, but looking at their inventory I'm going to look at a couple other cars just to make sure. Really, I'm just DONE with looking and researching and I've decided I WILL find something there.
So I sent my SB a list of cars I plan on looking at, I asked him what I was looking at for insurance by replacing the jeep with each car.
We'll take the one I *think* I'm getting first, an 08 Sentra
Here's his response:
Ok, Adding the Sentra w/ full coverage (collision, comprehensive (fire&theft) and rental reimbursement) w/ a $500 deductible would cost an additional $535/6months ($89.+/month)
Adding Sentra w/ full coverage w/ $1000 deductible would cost an additional $426/6 months or $71.+/month
so can someone explain to my tiny brain. Does that mean 536 MORE or 89 More a month than what we are paying now? Like right now it's 110 for both cars, so it'll be 200 a month?
I feel like such an idiot asking him this question.
Re: HELP! I'M AN IDIOT
It's actually both
536 divided by 6 is your 89.
So the answer is it's your current insurance (110) plus the 89 OR it's 660 (your 6 month premium) plus 536 then divided by 6 . Either way, 200 a month.
That's what I was asking. I knew both the 89 and the 536 were the same question.
Alright, so that's a nicer pill to swallow
I did tell him we were replacing not adding a 3rd. He did ask that after my first email.
good to know! I will def be checking this out
Ohh. Yes, this is true. We have basic on the Jeep since we bought it outright. This is our first ever experience with car payments. I feel like such a big girl now
Does that seem better than pricewise? There was a poll on my other board last week about how much people pay per year for ins and although they are in Mass, it was INSANE the amounts people were saying they paid per year. I was literally sweating at the thought of even getting a car at all with some of the numbers I saw.
I was expecting 1K per year increase. And that's just about what it came out to.
I mean, YES it's an Ins agent but he's my step brother and he'd tell me (and has) to shop around when we weren't getting the best rate.
