Re: An Unexciting Poll
Yes, but is this work appropriate:
I work with many people who have the mentality of 14 yr old boys

I clicked other. Just because I've made/seen pineapple upside-down cake in all pans.
Also, if you want to do the cupcake, use the pineapple tidbits instead of the rings. Then with the cherry in the middle it will look a lot less boobish.
I do too, but I have a fleur de lis bundt pan and I feel like it is a little too formal for a standard issue cake. I found a recipe that uses 9" pans and 6 sticks of butter (from Paula Deen of couse) that I may use instead.
^ My pan. So pretty.

I'm with everyone else that I have seen pineapple upside down cake made a few different ways.... so I clicked other.
When I have seen the cupcake style, it's with the pineapple ring and it's a fluted cupcake rather than smooth edge. If you go this route, I would agree and use the tidbits or crushed pineapple. You could also chop the cherries and mix in with the pineapple.
I think the fluted pan you have is fancy but it's also dessert..... Presentation is half of it. I would go for it!
