Fat Tuesday.. celebrating?

Anyone doing anything fun for Fat Tuesday?  Follow any traditions?  Ever been to New Orleans?

We eat meat!  We have thick steaks on the menu for this evening and we also plan to go out for a few drinks at a local place to celebrate.. maybe I'll get some beads Stick out tongue

Re: Fat Tuesday.. celebrating?

  • Nothing too exciting for us.  We'll be spending the evening with our friends Mike & Jennifer and baby Peanut.

    Missing our little turkey.

  • I wish!  We have nothing planned at all.  We'll probably cook something here and watch Biggest Loser (one of my few guilty pleasures on television!).

I only live six hours from New Orleans, but I've never been to Mardi Gras (other than the one they do in Galveston).  In fact, I haven't even been to NO since I was a kid (and all I remember are the beignets, which are unforgettable!).  How sad is that???

Have fun tonight!!!  Sounds WAY better than dinner at home and Biggest Loser Tongue Tied

Don't worry. I went when I was 12 and the only thing I remember is how much I sweat the whole time.  My LORD it was hot. lmao

Haha!  Their weather is pretty much the same as ours, so I wouldn't have remembered that part.  I basically start sweating in late March/early April and don't stop until November.  It's disgusting.

If that's what you remember about NO, don't ever plan a trip to Houston unless it's winter!  You'll probably regret it :)

  • I've never been and it makes me sad.  I wish I did this and Cancun for Spring Break.  I know, two ridiculous occasions but it's just something I wish I got out of my system.

Well, in fairness to you, the beignets are pretty freaking awesome.  I was there last year for a whopping 48 hours on a business trip, but I made sure to get some beignets and a po' boy. And I have been dreaming of both ever since, but mostly the beignets.  I don't think you could pay me to go to Mardi Gras, though. Even when I was actually into drinking heavily it just seemed like a nightmare. I really hate crowds.

This, exactly.  And, maybe some packing sprinkled in.

  • My grandmother was 3/4 German so we celebrate Fasnacht. We make kugels, which are like sugar donuts. Well... I've never made them, but I'm trying for the first time this year. I hope they taste like my grandma's.

  • No plans at all...I wish!

I've been to NOLA twice but never for Mardi Gras.  I think that'd be fun, but it's fun visiting anytime.  My friend is going next week...I'm so jealous!

  • I won't get home from work until 9:30 or 10 so I will be celebrating by eating dinner and going to bed.  Yippee!!!

  • Not celebrating Fat Tuesday here...I'm pretty much fat all week, so why should Tuesday be any different? :)
  • Update, we now have plans, although not exciting:  gym, go home and get Oscar, walk him to library to meet DH, pick up movies at library, walk to SIL to get Girl Scout cookies (sent from ILs), walk to friend to pick up hat DH forgot and walk home for dinner.

     Really exciting eh?

  • I've been to New Orleans 4 or 5 times,  but never for Mardis Gras.  I did go last year for Halloween and that was a trip and a half.  I saw more boobs that weekend than I care to see in my entire life.

I'm not really planning to celebrate Fat Tuesday, because I think in order to have a right to celebrate F.T. you have to also observe Lent, and I don't want to give up anything!  :-)

Has anyone ever been to Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri?? Talk about boob central, the party cove is nuts! I would love to go to Mardi Gras, that just sounds like a blast! We aren't doing anything either, I actually didn't even realize it is Fat Tuesday until now. But we are celebrating Lent tomorrow by giving up not having sex everyday, 40 days of sex, yes please!

  • I plan on getting a shower, taking some pain pills because my back has been hurting, and maybe having a couple natural lights.  We're pretty exciting over here.
