What is everyone doing to celebrate?
Do you know what if anything you're giving up for Lent?
Stand up for something you believe in.

Re: Happy Mardi Gras!
I'm just gonna be fat on this Fat Tuesday!
ETA: Seriously though, i think I'm going to go and pick up a Hurricane mixer and treat myself to a cocktail or two tonight! Nom nom, Hurricanes, nom...
Also ETA: I do not observe Lent.

I was going to give up red meat but I've been testing somewhat anemic lately and my dr. told me it was a bad idea.
We're having steaks tonight too because of the aforementioned pre-Lenten decision on what to give up, but it is less meaningful now.
I have no idea what I'm giving up now. I've given up allergy meds for 72 hours and feel like death right now, so it is clouding my ability to process other things.
Stand up for something you believe in.
I definitely thought Mardi Gras was next Tuesday. Oh well! I have no plans.
I don't observe Lent.

I was going to make red beans and rice tonight, but Robin's school is having a charity thing at a local Mexican joint, so we're going there instead. We'll just have our Mardi Gras food a day late. I don't observe Lent.
Ok, ok, I'm giving it up for longer than Easter (obviously).
That being said, I really do not know what to give up. My doc doesn't even want me giving up meat on Fridays b/c I'm anemic and aleady need to take an iron suppliment. I've been having the strangest food adversions so what I can/can't eat/keep down changes weekly. I would love to say McDonalds but being pregnant, I don't think that's possible.

Score! Today's Living Social deal is for the Po Boy Factory, a local New Orleans place. Totally buying it!
Now I want some red beans and rice. I'm totally going to ask my mom to make some. We used to live in NOLA, and she is amazing when it comes to southern and creole food.

I cook New Orleans style food more than I care to admit. We love red beans and rice, jambalaya, dirty rice. Not exactly the healthiest food, but....
I love jambalaya and dirty rice. My mom's gumbo is so delicious too. Seriously, it's getting near lunch time.

We just went to the Swedish bakery to get some semlor (Swedish mardi gras cakes) so we're having a little Swedish celebration this afternoon. Normally we don't do anything for mardi gras, though, but we'll do anything that involves Scandinavian traditions.
I don't observe Lent.
j/k. I don't observe.
C'mon, you know you want 'em...

True story.
I wore my purple and gold today....and my BEADS!! Also wanted to make a King Cake, but forgot to buy the stuff this past weekend. Will be making one soon though. They're yummy.
Lent is a toughie. I really haven't thought about what to give up, but, like Nooner, I've been totally slacking on the church thing and I need to start going regularly again, so I'm going to try to get to church every Sunday.
