Thanks for the Prayers...

but we had to put kitty down yesterday Crying

The vet said that she probably did have diabetes but she was in liver failure.  They could have hooked her up to some IVs and done a whole bunch of other things but nothing was guaranteed.

The vet said there is no way of knowing whether or not the diabetes was a cause of the liver failure....and that we were doing the right thing.

But I keep blaming myself for not taking her in sooner.  Thinking that maybe if we would have she would still be here.....

It was a rough day yesterday and we miss her terribly already....

  • Ohhhh, no!!!  :-(

    Aww, I am so sorry to hear.  Don't blame yourself.  You didn't know.  I know how hard it is for you, because I was just as devastated when we had to put our dog down after 15 years with him.  Pets are truly a part of the family and will be missed just as much.

    I'm sorry for your loss, and lots of hugs to you!!!

  • Oh, Mel, I'm so sorry. It's never easy to let go of a pet and I'm sure you absolutely did the right thing. Even if you had taken her in earlier there were no guarantees that she would have lived a happy life and she may have suffered more.

    Just give your beautiful doggies lots of love and over time your heart will heal. I'll be thinking about you.

  • I'm so sorry to hear this Mel. I know this is easier said than done, but please don't blame yourself.  I'm sure you were a wonderful mommy to your kitty. Unfortunately by the time symptoms of these types of things show up, it's pretty much always too late to do anything. {{Hugs}}

  • Mel I'm so sorry!! Please don't beat yourself up about this. You care so much for your animals, I don't know anyone who would have taken her in any sooner than you did. And you did the right thing by not prolonging her suffering. Hugs!
  • I'm so sorry! Its hard to be a fur-mommy when they can't talk to you and tell you that they are feeling off and when the symptoms are obvious its usually late in the game. Tons of hugs for you!!
  • I am so sorry! Please don't blame yourself. You and your hubby gave Kitty a great home with LOTS of love. I don't know if it would help with healing, but maybe put together a little scrapbook of pictures of Kitty. It will give you something to look at when you really miss her.

  • So sorry Mel! I know how bad losing a furbaby is, and it is so incredibly hard! Please don't feel bad about it at all, because I am sure you took the absolute best care of your kitty, as it is obvious that you do with all of your animals! Just know that it is no longer suffering! : (

  • So, so, sorry, Mel...

    But please don't blame yourself - Kitty was obviously in pain and suffering. Do you have a picture of her? Maybe you could do a RIP for her and remember some of the great memories and joy that she brought to your lives. I love it when pets are given a nice memorial - because we do love them so very much, and they enrich our lives so!

  • =( Oh know I was just catching up after being MIA for the last few days and saw this.....I'm so sorry for your loss! I like you make my pets part of my family and I just can't imagine having to put one down. I'm sure your cat had a great life at your home and it sounds like you acted in it's best interest.
