Discounted Compost Bins

Town of Brunswick's Public Works sells discounted compost bins in the spring time.  I always call too late and miss out, but I finally called in time and got one reserved for us this year which I'm very excited about.  They retail for $100, and ours will only be $42.50.  I think many towns do this, so I wanted to share in case it's something anyone else would be interested in.

Re: Discounted Compost Bins

  • Can we get one if we don't live in Brunswick?

Hmm, I don't think so, although it wouldn't hurt to ask.  Usually public works asks for an address for their services (free dump days, recycling bins etc.).  And they only have limited quantities.

ETA: I just looked on their website and it says they are participating in a statewide composter sale, so I would definitely check with your town's public works first as they may also be participating.

  • Hmmm.... I'll have to just call Lewiston Public Works tomorrow!

  • That's AWESOME!  We received a compost bin as a housewarming gift (from another "green" friend) and I barely had time to set it up in the fall.  With the last few warm days, I've noticed critters digging into the bottom of it.  :-(  If anyone has composting tips, I'd love 'em!
