Adam has the ok from his clinic to wear scrubs on occasions at the clinic, particularly in the winter months when there are TONS of illnesses going around. He is hoping to avoid washing all of his good clothes all the time and wearing them out so soon. Plus, scrubs are comfy when he is running room to room.
The clinic was hesitant at first b/c they like to give out a nice image.
1. Would it offend you if your pediatrician wore scrubs in the office? Do you prefer them to be dressed up?
2. From the medical peps out there - where is the best place to buy scrubs? He really wants just the basic, light weight cotton-feeling scrubs in blue or green, the standard-issue hospital kind. He doesn't want the thicker, polyester type that you often see worn in labs or clinics. You'd think he'd know where to get these, but scrubs worn during residency are just provided by the hospital.

Wouldn't bother me one bit.
My friend, who is a nurse, gets her scrubs in a story by Babies R US. I know there is also a store in Merle Hay Mall.
I'm sure the thickness varies from brand to brand, but I think the ones you see in the hospital are just really really worn and that is why they are not as thick.

I have gotten mine online and at Valley West Uniforms. You just have to look at all the brands and it can be SO over whelming when you're first shopping trying to pick out the right "cut", thickness, material, etc.
I've also heard there is a place up in Ankeny that has good pricing but I have yet to go up there and look.
I wouldn't mind if my pediatrician wore scrubs. I actually think it is a great idea as a tie is probably one of the biggest fomites, considering they aren't routinely cleaned.
DH has gotten scrubs at V-life Uniform in Merle Hay Mall. He likes the Dickies brand, but I think those are a heavier fabric. I think they might even have a punch card where if you buy so many you get a pair free. He might also want to check with the purchasing dept at the hospital his clinic is associated with. They might be able to order him some.
Scrubs are fine by me!
H wore scrubs when he cooked for a nursing home. I'm pretty sure he shopped at Valley West Uniforms, but don't quote me on that.
