I want to visit some place new!

DH's b-day is coming up and I figured we would celebrate this weekend.  I would like to try a restaurant that we've never been too before.  We don't do chains and I've listed some of the more "popular" choices that we have been to.  What do you suggest?

Splash, Dos Rios, Fong's, D'Jangos, Centro, Alba, Cosi Cucina,  Flying Mango

Edited: I should also say that DH does not care for sushi...I have to save that for girls' nights.

Diagnosed PCOS and hypothyroidism 2/12. Began Metformin and Synthroid 2/12. Currently waiting to redo blood work before moving on to clomid and IUI hopefully by May/June. BabyFruit Ticker http://i47.tinypic.com/2le2wxg.png

  • Baratta's or Sam and Gabe's

  • Gino's (Original or West Glenn), Yanni's (WDM or Ankeny) or 801 Chop House are some of our favorites.
  • Kirkwood Lounge is brand new downtown and it is a nice, romantic place. Get a wrap around booth and sit by one another! ;)
  • Also if you haven't been to Star Bar yet, it is good and is nice inside. The meals are around $12-$15.
  • How much do you want to spend?  Baru66 is flippin' amazing but it's going to cost you a few bills to go.

    What about Azalea?  or Lucca?

What is his fav style of food?

  • What side of town do you want? Also Fongs is more bar/drinking then ordering a pizza to soak up the drinks... LOL When I was downtown that is what we did!!

Mizzoti's on Fleur is  REALLY Good! That's our go to when we want a date night!! Plus they have a fun little bar to hang out at after dinner.

  • Dish, Chicago Speakeasy , Sam and Gabe's,  Lucca - all good places.

  • Hey, Just to let you know Azalea is closed, it has turned into the kirkwood lounge. And the Zen place next to it is turning into a mexican place next month.
  • Cosi Cucina, Sam &Gabe's, Greenbriar

Sidenote:  We went to Latin King last Saturday night and we were not impressed.  There were 7 of us and noone like their food, especially for what we paid :(

    This makes me sad.

Another one I thought of (especially if you're wine lovers) is Sbrocco.  YUM.

  • Cafe Di Scala, Cafe Di Scala, Cafe Di Scala!

Hands down our favorite reastuarant in Des Moines. It's beautiful, the food is amazing, the wine list is crazy awesome, it's intimate, and the service is top-notch. It's an amazing dining experience. I don't think it get the attention it deserves.
