Brody has been diagnosed with reflux and is on Zantac (1 ml twice a day). On the meds we have noticed an improvement as far as the arching of the back and crying during feedings. However he still spits up after every feed and often chokes especially at night. Milk also comes out of his nose frequently. The thing I am worried about is that he projectile vomits/spits up often. Last week he started doing it after every feed and I had him into the pedi. They weren't sure what to make of it and thought maybe it was a virus so I stopped nursing and did pedialyte for awhile until he started holding things now. Since then things have improved but he still projectile vomits on average twice a day. He will eat, sit up and immediately start retching and the ENTIRE feed will come up. Poor little thing just whimpers right before it happens and has these sad watery eyes when he is done. Afterwards he seems hungry again and I never know whether to feed him all over again or what. Anyway, my question is- is the projectile spit up normal or should I be concerned? I know some spitting up is completely normal but I worry about the forcefulness and volume of what he is throwing up.
