adoption is confusing

So even though we're going to be licensed soon we wont be matched soon. I'm not disappointed, just confused. Because we're looking to adopt we go on a different list than foster parents, however the kid we get will be a foster child. So in English I think this is what's happening:

We're getting licensed this week.

We wont be matched this week, or any time soon

On the 23rd our worker and an adoption/foster care worker will be coming to talk to us more.

When we are matched the child will be a foster child, who also has a concurrent plan for adoption. Rather than just a reunification plan.

In the mean time, I will be enjoying my grown up life while I can :)

Re: adoption is confusing

  • That makes sense. I guess it's all about finding the right match - it would be awful if that went wrong.

Exactly, and with foster care, it's less of a matching process and more like we have to find this kid a home, with foster to adopt it's different.

  • I 2nd the yoga in random places. Also, it sounds like a great plan, even though it is sort of confusing. Hopefully the wait won't be too much longer.

  • Sorry it is so confusing but think of it being one step closer. Enjoy your time together now especially the yoga. I can not find time for a little yoga. Good luck and can't wait to hear!
