Can you tell me how it would be traveling with a 8 month old? Going to Atlanta end of July, but going to wait to decide on flying or driving.

Re: *Madisen*

  • Let me first qualify my answer by saying that James has been a relatively easy-going, non-fussy child that goes with the flow (luckily).

Traveling with him around 8 months was easy and great.  We went to NY for a long weekend right around that age and had no issues whatsoever.  The flight to Atlanta is even shorter (only about an hour) so you shouldn't have any problems.  James still slept a majority of the time while flying at that age.  You just want to make sure you have him swallowing during ascent and descent...so milk, formula, water, etc.  You can pass milk, bm and formula through security and if the liquid formula is unopened, policy says they won't open it to test it.  We usually get water from a water fountain after passing through security.  We didn't take a carseat on that trip but you can check in a carseat and a stroller for free on most airlines.

We dragged him all over Manhattan and he was a little trooper.  Among other things, we did a buggy ride in Central Park, walked around Little Italy, took him through the King Tut museum that was on exhibit at that time.  One night we went to the empire state building, walked to Bourdain's restaurant afterwards and ate dinner around 11pm.  He was sleeping under the table in his reclining umbrella stroller in the middle of a crowded restaurant with blaring music.  That would not happen now at 17 months heh.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

  • Thank you. Luke is a very laid back kid currently, but not counting on it staying like this.
