not to beat a dead horse...

you can kill me if i'm annoying.

Jaimas?

does that look like Jay-mas?

i think i'm annoying myself at this point.

Re: not to beat a dead horse...

  • in this case, i think of jamais (ja-may) which is french for never

    sorry :(

  • With the "i" it looks more like "jamais" was misspelled, and that means "never" in French. My brain is flipping the letters, and I'm reading it as jah-may or jah-mays

I think I'd pronounce it your way if you used a "y" in place of the "i" -- Jaymas

  • jinx alicia! i haven't taken french in 15 years but i still immediately saw/heard "jamais"

    Ditto.

I still don't see it as "Jay-mas" when you spell it "Jaimas" .

  • My brain also went to jamais.

  • I just saw the word never in French. I think if you want it pronounced Jay-Mas, you might need to spell it Jaymas. (Which then to me reminds me of pyjamas!)
  • I would do it Jaymas if you really want to use it. Then again, it would be the middle name and really only you need to know how its pronounced. If someone ever asked him his whole name he would say XXXXX Jaymas XXXXX and it wouldn't matter.  You know?

  • You know, if you like it, I say go for Jamas. The people that matter will know how its pronounced.
  • Shot in the dark here, but what about "Jaemas"

And I agree, if it's just a middle name, it's not nearly so critical that it's intuitive.

  • Just thinking of Jaemas more ...  "Seamus" is pronounced "Shay-mas"...
