What must you bring on vacation?

It's a slow rainy day here and all I can think about is sunny Florida in a few short weeks! I am getting my list together for the long road trip and it got me thinking of all the things I HAVE to bring with me (clothing is the obvious one):

- My pillow, 2 blankets, ipod and my little teddy bear that has been on every single trip I/we have taken. (He is a well traveled teddy)

What are some things you have to bring with you no matter where you travel?

Re: What must you bring on vacation?

  • Phone charger

MY hairdryer and other hair things (flat iron, curling iron, etc). Hotel blowdryers usually suck.

My own shampoo/conditioner, body wash and loofah sponge.

Other than that, just the obvious....makeup products, clothes, etc.

  • When I go to the beach, I always bring a stack of magazines. I stock up for weeks. I take a book too, but there's just something about reading magazines at the beach that's better, maybe because they're trashier. I agree with Rach that MY blowdryer and hair products are a must. Also, all of the appropriate chargers: cell phone, ipod, kindle. If we'll have wifi, I usually take our netbook.

Oooh good one. I do that when I go to the beach too:)

  • iPod, neck pillow, a good book, small snacks and my own shampoo/conditioner (hotel brands suck)

  • My iPod/iPhone, decent earbuds, a good book, my teddy bear (yes, I still sleep with one), and a pair of flipflops because I hate wearing heavy shoes and socks when I travel, regardless of the weather

I totally agree with Rach. Hotel hairdryers suck and I can only use my own shampoo. The hotel stuff usually sucks the life out of my hair. I have thin hair, so their isn't much life in it to begin with.

I have decided that I will always travel with my Sonicare. I just can't stand the way my mouth feels without it. Also, Kindle and flipflops.

  • Earplugs. Every time I think I won't need them somewhere I end up having to buy them.

  • Ditto my own shampoo, conditioner, and soap.  I also make sure I have toothpaste, and shaving cream/gel of some sort (I always seem to forget the toothpaste, and get annoyed that hotels never provide it with everything else).

I'm a book person, but I'll often grab a magazine or two to flip through.

Purell or some kind of hand sanitizer, especially if going on a plane.  And I usually make sure I have socks on the plane, even if I'm wearing flip-flops, my feet get cold.  In car rides, I try to wear easy on/off footwear so you can have your shoes off during the ride yet get out quickly for pit-stops.

  • I also usually have several books (now I just bring my nook!), and ditto the flip flops and/or easily slipped on/off shoes. Ditto my own shampoo and conditioner.  I'm not usually too picky about body wash, but I am about my hair care!  Also I always make sure I have my cell charger, I used to be notorious for forgetting it.

For a road trip specifically, I bring a little squishy pillow and a soft blanket for car napping.  Road trips also require very specific snacks: peanut butter M&Ms, strawberry Twizzlers, goldfish or cheez-its, and chili cheese fritos.  Most of the time this is the only occasion that I eat these foods and a road trip just doesn't seem right without them!

  • I always bring flip flops, my favorite pillow, personal shampoo and soaps, chap stick and sunblock! For a road trip I suggest a small cooler with snacks and water. it was the best part of my trip and cut down on stops along the way.
  • MP3/iPod and charger, books and magazines, cell phone and charger, SNACKS, some kind of supportive pillow, pictures of dog and cats.
