my head is spinning

My cousin and i decided to try to create a family tree.  dear lord.  this is intense!!

we are using geni.com which is nice cause once you add the person to the tree you can invite them to the tree so they can start adding what the know and it links it all together.

this tree is already HUGE.

my head hurts.

Re: my head is spinning

  • i am so glad that my great aunt sally did this for our family years ago, she traced our ancestors back to france in the 1600s. my FIL is doing it for DH's family. i don't think i'd have the patience! it will be awesome when you finish!

  • I used Ancestry.com to find a lot of mine. I've traced a few of my lines to the 1400s. 1572 individuals and counting. If only my relatives would stop getting married and having kids! ;)

I use the Family Tree Maker software to quickly update mine.

  • Yea after i have this all mapped out with everyone adding their stuff i'm going to get the software to do it.  This is just easier right now to add in our cousins and be like "hey, add your info"
  • I really want to do this (it's been done to some extend on my dad's side of the family) but not in the budget, and I need the help of ancestry.com to track down records because most of the older generations are gone.

I've been slowly chipping away at mine on ancestry.com, but I get annoyed with that website. I have a pretty good handle on my ancestry thanks to amazing records from my grandparents. I think I'll start working on DH's side, since that's not documented at all to my knowledge. Thanks for posting about geni.com - it's way easier!
