Picked up a king cake at Publix and I'm sorry to say it did not survive the afternoon intact. Also got stuff to make shrimp creole for dinner. (see above)

Anyone else doing something related?

    I want king cake so bad.  I've been drooling over there since February when they came out.

    What is king cake like?  I'm trying to figure out what kind of dessert to make tonight for fat tuesday, but if I can just pick something up I will.

    Our dinner is totally not appropriate for fat tuesday, but I had already planned the menu without considering the day.  So back bean burritos it is!  We'll make up for it with dessert and drinks.

    I'm going to bite club. So so so so happy I'm no longer hosting and can just attend :) I was going to make pancakes, but maybe I'll do that tomorrow because now I'm craving them.

    I'm on my own for dinner tonight so I'm going to eat whatever is quick and easy. I did wear a purple shirt today and we were given beads to wear at work.

    We are having eggs, bacon and pancakes.  Since you have now mentioned a king cake I will also have to pick one of those up and I am sure I will end up eating most of it tonight.

    FYI: I went to my Publix after work and they were sold out of King cakes!  I was soo disappointed!  I settled for a 4 pack of Paczki.

    All this talk of king cake made me ask DH to pick one up at Publix on his way home yesterday.  He got a cheese king cake and it was *blech*.  He liked it though.  Is there another type or all they all cheese?

    I didn't know they even had cheese king cakes.  I thought they were all like a cinnamon roll type dough.

    I've never heard of cheese king cakes. Sounds to me like they ran out of regular ones and converted some cheese coffee cakes into a king cake with icing :)
