I agreed to watch a baby (a week younger than my own) 3 days a week. This is the first day he has been here (she canceled yesterday) and I am already a huge ball of nerves. There is a good reason God did not bless us with two at once, I just don't see myself being able to do this on a daily basis or even a part time basis. Ugh!
I feel terrible but unless this afternoon and tomorrow go much better than this morning I am going to tell her that next week will be the last week. How much notice should I give her that I won't be continuing? Is one week enough?
Visual for you- Me in a rocking chair nursing B and rocking him at the same time. Got her fed, burped and to sleep before he was out. He has to be rocked to sleep for his naps according to his momma.
Re: What the hell was I thinking???
When V was a few months old, a friend asked me to watch her 2 kids for a couple of hours. He son is a month younger than V and her daughter is 3 years older. I remember trying to nurse V and give her son a bottle and it was so hard! I couldn't have done it without the 3 year old to help. I don't blame you a bit for not being up for this every week!
I would probably tell her as soon as you are sure you don't want to do it anymore so she can look for someone else. Maybe tell her you will do it for up to x weeks to give her time to find someone though.
Hugs mama, and I hope the day got better!
I can totally understand why you don't want to care for two so young, but I was put in a similar situation just after I returned to work and honestly, a week notice was not nearly enough.
Pretty much all of the childcare centers had waiting lists for infants that we hadn't joined (since we thought we had a solid plan for childcare). It took me about a month of active searching to find a less than ideal place that could take him.
