Tats 'n piercings?

Re: Tats 'n piercings?

  • No tattoes, although I've thought several times that I'd like one I just don't have anything that's meaningful enough to get at this time.

     Piercings: Just my ears (once)

Past piercings (now removed): cartilage (kept getting infected), belly-button (pierced when I was 15, removed was I was 20), nose (pierced when I was 20 but had less than a year)

  • I'm bound to be the most boring person on here...

No tattoos (in fact, every time Chris and I go to the beach, we always comment on how we are pretty much the only people under 60 without them!)

Piercings - ears (from when I was a baby) and navel, which I took out when my belly started growing.

    How's that for unexciting???

My ears are pierced and when I was 18 I had my eyebrow pierced, I removed it when I was 21.

I only have one tatt. On my upper thigh of a really simplistic dragon. Simple -less is more- is how I design.  It's represents strength and power, and reminds me to be strong when lifes sucking.

Hopefully I'll have my next tattoo in a couple years. It'll involve orchids (beauty and strength again) and a single male monarch butterfly to represent  my cousin (obviously he's no longer alive), it also represents the soul and re-birth.

  • I have 2 tattooes and my ears are pierced.  I used to have my belly button pierced, but that was like 14 years ago.  lol

I don't have any upclose pictures...

... but that little blob on the inside of my left ankle, is a walrus.

And then I also have "Mc" tattooed on the back of my neck.

ETA:  I didn't think I had a pic of the Mc but then I remembered it might be in my old photobucket account.  And sure enough!.

*WARNING* it's kinda gross looking, as this was pretty much right after I had it done.  It's just a light brownish red now.  The idea was for it to look SORT OF like a brand.  Kind of.  Or a birthmark, type deal.

    Eek!  Too big.  Resizing.  brb

Ok, I'm too dumb to figure out how to do it from photobucket (without it being giant) so I saved it and uploaded it to Flickr.

  • I have a Chinese symbol that means "big sister" on the top of my foot.  My sister has the one for "little sister" in the same place.

I have two holes in my ears.  I used to have my nose pierced, but took it out when I started working for the Government (not because I had too).

  • No tattoos here, I haven't come across anything that I want imprinted on my body forever.

Piercings: my ears, I had them double pierced at one point, but the second holes have long since grown shut.  I also had a navel piercing I think I got it when I was 19 or 20, several months later I was working in a job where I did a lot of lifting and carrying stuff against my stomach and it just didn't work out.  I got it re-pierced about a year later and it grew out (the skin in front of the piercing must have been too thin and as the skin behind it healed it pushed it out).

  • I have my Ears pierced only once tho, the second set and cartilage got infected. Also had my bell button pierced when in was 16, took it out just shy of 20, before i had surgery also the piercing wasn't centered do to my back curving so it looked funny anyways.

As for tats I have two, the first one I got when I was 17 (my dad didn't know had someone go and pretend to be my step mom)  The tattoo is for my mom, she passed away when I was 15, so I got an angel with her name on it, (also now my First nieces name)

     image

as for second tat, I got it when I 20, I had a saying about how my heart had wings...so i went and got a heart with wings on my right hip/ pelvic area

kind of looks like this only the heart is shaded in red, and the wings are shaded in black and gray

  • 3 tattoos.  First one was at 16, it's on my big toe, it's a sun and moon. [got it to represent my fav cousin in West Virginia, he also got he sun on his heart to rep me] Second one was at 23 and is on each hip.  One side says "Only Live Once" the other hip says "Live For You".  [went through a rough patch and wanted a reminder that I'm in the life for me first, others second] The third was at 27 and is a umm.. the side of my right boob/upper rib cage/lower armpit lol it's in the shape of a circle, and it's 6 moorean turtles. [Mike and I got matching ink on our honeymoon, turtles rep love, circle is never ending, whomp whomp lol]

Piercings.  Ears.  Right now I only wear the first holes in both ears.  I've had a second hole in my right ear and I've had 5 additional holes in my left.  I had my nipple pierced for about 2 years, but it naturally started growing out so I just took it out.  My belly button is pierced still, but not sure how much longer I'll have it.

  • Tisha, what is the meaning behind Mc, if you don't mind me asking?

I have no tattoos, but I seriously was considering it when my grandma passed away. But ultimatley, they aren't for me.

I have 5 piercings: 2 on each ear and a belly button ring. I kinda don't like it anymore, but I don't want a hole there, so it stays until I get preggers.

I was kind of in the same place with my belly button ring (although I felt like I looked really funny without it).  Now the hole is just stretching so it's especially ugly...haha!

  • I have one hole in each ear. I had a second hole in each but they kept getting infected, and then I had my left cartiledge done but it just wouldn't heal. I also had my eyebrow pierced from the time I was 14 until I was around 21ish. I have 4 tattoos; I am obviously pretty hard core. Actually, they are all very stupid. I have three on my ankles, two on my left, and one on my right, and one on the back of my neck. On the inside of my left ankle I have a purple X with an orange lily growing up it with vines which was gorgeous, although it is way too small and eventually blended together, now it just looks like a blob. On the outside of my left ankel I have a black outline of a pumpkin which actually looks more like a tomato. My best guy friend and I have always called each other Pumpkin so when Jason and I were broken up, and I was hurt and drunk, Rick and I decided it'd be a good idea to get matching pumpkin tattoos lol. Since it looks more like a tomato than a pumpkin, we now call each other Mato. On my right ankle is just a black virgo symbol bc I'm kind of into all that crap. Then on the back of my neck I have the word Karma written in black script. All of mine are really small and hidden on a daily basis so they don't bother me much, but if I could go back, I wouldn't do them again.

  • I have 2 tattoos, one on my ankle that is a trinity symbol and represents my sisters and me and one on my back left hip that is a tree of life. I have really been wanting another one for the past couple of years, but it hasn't worked out to get it. DH and I were going to get them on the honeymoon but the place we tried was always closed when we were available.

I don't have any actual pictures of my back piece, but this is what it looks like, minus the treble clef:

I have my ears double pierced (though I rarely wear anything in the second holes), my left cartilage, and my belly button. I'm with pondering_gal on the belly button piercing now, but I really don't want a hole there so I leave it in.

When I was 16, I did stained glass angels for Xmas gifts (I made them).  My grandmother loved hers so much, she was buried with it (and an angel my little brother got for her).  This is the outline of it, I was 18.  Please excuse the utter Myspace-ness of the shot.

I think this was my 24th birthday gift from Ross, he did the basic design.  When I got divorced, I kind of clung to the idea that I would rise out of the ashes.  The picture was taken almost immediately after being done, it's not nearly as vibrant now.  The guy who did it took some liberties (the colouration and a few "mistakes" he did).

Tisha, what is the meaning behind Mc, if you don't mind me asking?

My maiden name is McGhee and we're a dying breed.  My dad is the youngest McGhee boy and I am his only child.  He had 2 male cousins who were McGhees also.  One died at 16 in a car crash.  The other also only had one child, my 2nd cousin, Crystal.  :-)

So, I always knew I'd change my name when I got married, and I didn't want the name to not be remembered.  And the Mc part (with the 2 lines - the 2 lines are very important!) is sort of like a family thing.

The story is that when my great grandma married my great grandpa, he didn't know how to spell his name.  So she came up with the spelling.  So, it's almost like the family name started in the 30's and will die when my dad does.  There won't be any boys to pass it on to at this point.  Crystal and I were the last of the new McGhees and she's already had 3 different last names and now I have a different last name too.

Anyway, so that's it.  lol  Long story even longer, right?  I just wanted to have a piece of the name with me always.

  • I have 2 tattoos and 3 peircings.

I have two piercings in my ears, lobes and just got my 2nd holes done about 2 weeks ago. I also have my belly button pierced, got it done at 15 and will prob take it out once I am KU.

I have the legendary tramp stamp, which I cannot take a self portrait of, even though I did try. It is a sun/moon and a star with a tribal design on either side, it is similar to the tattoo my mom has, but hers is just the sun/moon on her upper thigh.

The other on is on my foot and my sister drew it, and she has the same one. It is actually the first thing Lance ever bought for me. I am going to have more added to it because it is kinda boring. (don't mind my bad pedicure and hairy foot, I need to shave)

    image

Lance and I are also planning to get matching tattoo's very soon.

I want another one sooo bad. But I dont' have the time/money and I can't really commit.

I want the quote "If you don't live for something- you'll die for nothing" and I''m thinking about my other foot. But I can't decide.

I only have my ears peirced. I have two holes in each and then my left cartilidge twice and my right one once. But I don't think I've had earrings in any of them since the wedding. I've had too much other stuff going on I keep forgetting to put earrings in. So they may not be there haha.

I really wanted my eyebrow done- but there was never a good time for me to do it. My parents wouldn't let me- and after I was 18 most of my jobs wouldn't allow it.

  • Ok, I had a bazillion piercings at one point in time, but most of them have been taken out.

Had: both nipples, cartlidge, 3/4 holes, tongue & belly button.

    image

Have: nose, 2 earrings on each side.

    image

    5 tats:

My fourth tattoo, given to me by my darling husband for our 2nd anniversary in 2007. Got it in Lake George while on Vacation. My mom was supposed to get a matching one and chickened out lol. I was 22.

    image

My most recent tattoo, got it on black Friday. Obviously our wedding date on my ring finger. 25 y.o.

     image

My first tattoo, the design from an album that got me through a lot in high school and really inspired me. I was 18.

    image

My 3rd tattoo, Kanji symbol above my heart, means Family. My only "impulse" tattoo. Also when I was 19. You can see it in the pic above with my nose ring.

    image

My second tattoo, all my brothers and sisters names: Corey, Sara, Cameron, Joey, Lexi, Wyatt. Got it when I was 19.

  • Ana, I love the butterfly on your foot...level with me, how bad did it hurt?  I really, really want a foot tattoo, but I'm scared of the pain factor.

I currently have two piercings in each ear, one pair of which has size 4 gauges in it.  I want to go up to a 0 and then stop, but I'm taking it slow.  I used to have a navel piercing, but let me tell you, you have not experienced pain until a panicked Boston Terrier jumps into your lap and rips the damn thing out all in one swift motion.  It's a lot of blood, too!  I decided not to have it re-done.

I have 2 tattoos at the moment...one really bad one on my right shoulder that looks like an inkblot test, but was supposed to be a fairy in a tree.  I'm looking at getting full-back angel wings to get that covered.

I do have a picture of my second tattoo.  It's on my left inner forearm.  Here's a picture of it just minutes after it was done:

    image

It's in Latin.  Loosely translated, it means "No day but today".  Besides being a recurring phrase in my favorite musical (RENT, in case you're clueless), it's kind of a personal life philosophy.  I had it done in Latin so people wouldn't randomly burst into song when they spy my forearm.  Now, I just have people randomly asking me if I'm a fan of the band Toto or if I really like "The Wizard of Oz".  *sigh*...maybe I should have thought that through a little more.  But I love it anyway!

It was pretty bad.... Next to my finger the most uncomfortable, but my feet are really sensitive and tickleish. It's a PITA to take care of too, I had to buy special flip flops b/c everything rubbed. Do it in summer and know that you won't be able to keep it in the pool/ocean for several weeks. Old Navy flip flops were the best I found for where my tat is, so there was no rubbing at all.

I mean, as far as the pain goes, I say it hurts, but I'm ready to get another one on my other foot lol. And compared to other pain, it's really not that bad.

  • Well I can't post pics of most of them because I am at work and I don't think I have pics. I have 6 tattoos. I have one on my ankle which I hate and regret. I have one on each hip bone, one on my lower back, one on the back of my neck and one on my shoulder blade. The one on my should blade is an irish claddah and the heart is colored as an italian flag, it has my cousins name, birth date and death date. He was killed in a car accident and he always wanted a leprechaun eating spaghetti and meatballs as a tribute to our irish/italian heritage. I couldn't find a leprechaun that looked feminine enough, so I modified the idea.

I have 2 holes in each ear and my cartlidge pierced. I also have my belly button done. I used to have my nose, tragus, hood (if your at work and you don't know, don't google it  ;) industrial and I had 4 rings in my belly button at one time. Looked sort of like this

I really want to do something like this! I thought about it on our honeymoon, but we didn't have the extra money to get it done.

How long did you have to leave your rings off so it could heal??
