Re: Time waster: Songs about you

  • This is going to take some thinking but I love this post!

Your favorite song - Thrash Unreal by Against Me! I like to sing it at the top of lungs. Makes me feel punk. AND Abe was in my belly when we saw them in Portland.

Your least favorite song - I'm sure there are a few but right now it is the trashy song by Rhianna "sticks and stone may break my bones but whips and chains excite me" Do you think you should be singing about broken bones when your boyfriend beat you up??

A song that makes you happy - Pistol by Dustin Kensrue. We danced to this at our wedding and it is "our" song.

A song that makes you sad - Bridge Over Troubled Water. In my HS graduation card my mother wrote, "Sail on silver girl. Your time has come to shine. All your dreams are on their way." I'm almost crying thinking about it! I didn't appreciate it at the time...then she died and dug that card out.

A song that reminds you of a certain event - Don't Lose Touch by Against Me. It makes me think of their show in Portland last spring. The crowd went BANANAS and were throwing beer cans and crowd surfing...it was so crazy.
    OR
Everything is Magic by Angels and Airwaves. At Warped Tour they came out and only performed this song. It was thundering and lightning and then started pouring. Tom changed his lyrics around and sang, "Look for the sun as the rain comes down" and stuck his hand into the rain. Ah. Swoooon.

A song that you know all the words to - All Fake Problems songs. All Against Me songs. And every Oh Rats song (Seth's former band).

A song that you can dance to - Tambourine by Eve. Milkshake by Kelis

A song that is a guilty pleasure - anything by My Chemical Romance. I am secretly a fan of them.

A song that you used to love but now hate - I can't think of one!

A song that you want to play at your funeral - Say I Won't by The Gaslight Anthem. "We're havin a paaarty. Everybody's swwwinging." "Cause everybody's shaking like the end of the world, And everybody's waiting on the end of the world, And I ain't got a friend, baby, left in the world. Don't make me dance all night alone."

A song from your childhood - Me and Bobby McGee by Janis Joplin. I remember listening to the Pearl record and dancing around the living room.

Your favorite song at this time last year - I was a Teenage Anarchist by Against Me. "Do you remember when you were young and wanted to set the world on fire?"

AHHHHHH I am in love with this post. I can't wait to blast some music on my way home!

  • - Your favorite song : This is impossible to answer. Right now I'm really into The Black Keys- Love Tighten Up and Ten Cent Pistol

    - Your least favorite song  : This Afternoon by Nickelback- Frigging no talent posers... I hate those guys and just about everything they produce

    - A song that makes you happy  : Oh, there are so many!  I really smile to myself when I hear Iron Man as done by The Cardigans.  Yeah, it's a Black Sabbath song sung jazz style by a Swedish chick with the lyrics "Boop-doobie-doop-doobie-doo-doobie-doobie-doobie-boop-boobie-doop-doobie-dooo!" at the end.

    - A song that makes you sad  : Come What May from Moulin Rouge

    - A song that reminds you of a certain event  : I'm Beginning to See the Light by Bobby Darin reminds me of my wedding. Our DJ chose it for our cocktail hour and we listened to our CDs the whole honeymoon, so it's imprinted on my senses.

    - A song that you know all the words to  : I think I know all of Galileo by the Indigo Girls

    - A song that you can dance to  : Anything with a beat, but I love Switch by Will Smith, Get on Your Boots by U2, and The Way You Move by Outkast

    - A song that is a guilty pleasure  : We R Who We R by Ke$ha- I want to bellydance to it at our alternative hafli!

    - A song that you used to love but now hate  : Save Tonight by Eagle Eye Cherry - a dude ruined it for me.  I didn't love it, but now I hate it.  Another dude ruined Are You Gonna Be My Girl by Jet, but I can't hate it- it's too good.  It just makes me uncomfortable now.

    - A song that you want to play at your funeral  : Something by U2- maybe Beautiful Day or their Everlasting Love cover

    - A song from your childhood  : Maneater by Hall and Oates.  I loved that song, even though I didn't get it!

    - Your favorite song at this time last year  : Technically I don't think it hit the radio until later in the spring, but I loved (and still love) Bulletproof by La Roux

Well, this certainly took forever for even me to fill out.  I guess I should apologize for a complicated get to know you post!!!

  • OMG! Switch by Will Smith. I totally forgot about this song. "What...are you too cute to dance or are you scared?" (wasn't there a dance that went along with this song?)

    And I hate Nickelback too!

  • I think you did some sort of wiggle and then did a 180 jump around yourself, maybe with a clap for Switch?  I think I saw the video at one time and remember seeing something like that. "Y'all be lookin' like 'Ooh, he a movie star, he ain't supposed to be on the floor with everybody!'"  "It's a club girl, why you arrivin' nekkid?"  I love that song- it was another on the wedding soundtrack.  In fact, a lot of these were on the wedding playlist!  (But not Maneater, I swear.)

  • FUN!

    - Your favorite song: Right now, I can't get enough of the Mumford & Sons album, the whole thing is absolutely incredible from start to finish. I'm not sure I could name one all time favorite song, so I'll stick w/ favorite right now.

    - Your least favorite song: I'm going to have to agree with the anything by Nickelback, they make me want to shove bamboo under my fingernails.

    - A song that makes you happy: The Swimming Song by Loudon Wainwright III, it is infectiously happy, and just makes me want to dance around the room.

    - A song that makes you sad:
Sometime Around Midnight by Airborne Toxic Event, it's said but in a beautiful way, and Leviathan by Schooner Fare because it makes me think of my Dad and being home in Maine
    - A song that reminds you of a certain event:
Brandy by Looking Glass, but performed by our friends the Dani Tribesmen- it was our wedding song, and the song DH asked me to dance to the first night we got together Smile

    - A song that you know all the words to: Waaaaaay too many to list! I grew up listening to the Beach Boys, Mamas & the Papas, Kingston Trio, The Big Chill Soundtrack and CCR, so those are pretty much all on memory now.

    - A song that you can dance to: Anything with a good beat! Classic soul, rediculous dance pop, you name it.

    - A song that is a guilty pleasure: Ke$ha is my biggest guilty pleasure- she's so Whiskey Tango, but I want to bust a move every time I hear her. You should see how excited DH is to get his groove on when he hears her, it's hilarious!

    - A song that you used to love but now hate: I thought Katy Perry's Firework was cute when it first came out, but now I want to hurt the DJs every time it comes on, beyond overplayed.

    - A song that you want to play at your funeral:
Whitesnake's Here I Go Again On My Own. Pretty self explainatory.

    - A song from your childhood: I lived and died by Tiffany's jams.

    - Your favorite song at this time last year: Wow, no idea... I didn't get my iPod until April of last year, so I can't even look on my playlists.

    - A song that you can dance to  - I think we are alone now!!

    - A song that is a guilty pleasure - Bad romance by Lady Gaga

  • I'm really going to have to think about this!

Name (and feel free to go into some detail about):

    - Your favorite song - right now it's "Brand New Day" by Joshua Radin. It changes a lot though!

    - Your least favorite song - erm, I'm not really sure. I change the station a lot on current stuff. Oh, that stupid grenade song, I don't even know who sings it.

    - A song that makes you happy - The Glee version of "Teenage Dream." Adorable!

    - A song that makes you sad - not sad so much as nostalgic about a really sad time, "I Won't Forget You" by Poison definitely brings me right back to having my heart broken at 16 and being so crushed.

    - A song that reminds you of a certain event - Ooh. Hmm, not an event but a time. "I Met a Girl" by Wheat reminds me of being 19 and having a little crush on a co-worker but never saying anything because both of us were dating other people. That song used to play at work on the satellite radio. But nearly 8 years later we are going out so it's all good ;)

    - A song that is a guilty pleasure - there are a few by Kesha I like but hate to admit it! Haha.

    - A song that you used to love but now hate - "Closer" by Nine Inch Nails. It actually makes me shudder now because it reminds me of my XH playing it. Ewww.

    - A song that you want to play at your funeral - I don't think I want a funeral! But if I must, then something pretty and instrumental, maybe "Angel Eyes" by Jim Brickman.

    - A song from your childhood:  Anything by Steve Green. My parents were huge on Christian Music, it's about all I listened to till I rebelled in Jr. high.

    - Your favorite song at this time last year: Hmm. I think it was "Rehab" by Rihanna. I was going through some angst. LOL.
