Fenugreek.

I don't know if it's been suggested to you yet for your supply, but if you ever think you might be having issues, Fenugreek.

My lactation consultant told me to take 3 capsules 3 times a day as of last Friday, so I started taking them Saturday... today is Wednesday and I am definitely feeling the increase.

I know you mentioned yesterday you were concerned about having enough milk to meet Alex's needs -- I'm so there -- so I thought I would pass this little tidbit of advice along because it worked for me. =)

How has he been doing today?

  • Oh! I totally forgot about that. But yes, it does work, Christina! I took it for a while. Also, Mother's Milk Tea is helpful, and I just noticed that they started carrying it at Walmart. So you might check for that as well.
  • Ooo thanks!! I'll see if Joel can pick some up tonight on his way home from work!  It's definitely worth a shot!
  • Also, it's going well today!  The doctor's office weighed Alex at 5lbs 1oz and he is gaining 33 grams a day and she wanted him to gain at least 30 grams a day so we're on track!  We have to go back next week because they need to see him at his birth weight.  We also have an ultrasound set up for his hips on March 28th.  They're not concerned and haven't noticed anything wrong but it's standard practice for any breech babies that they deliver just to be sure that they're not missing something.
