So after having a great first couple of days after surgery, she had a bit of a regression. Over the weekend she began having trouble with speech and moving the right side of her body. She also started getting much more lethargic and wasn't really eating.
My mom decided that it was best for her to go down to FL so she can be there to help. My aunt has 2 youngish daughters and it was hard for her to be spending a lot of time at the hospital.
So after a not so great weekend they wanted to do an MRI, they finally got it done late yesterday afternoon and got the results bake today. The good news is that there was no sign of a stroke, so the effects she is having were just caused from the hematoma. She will have Physical Therapy and Speech Therapy to help with the recovery.
She is still in the ICU. They were waiting for the test results before they began to move her to a regular floor. Now they will move her to the Neuro area once a bed becomes available. My mom is working on getting her a spot in a rehab nursing home facility when she eventually is discharged from the hospital. Then after that we'll have to see. She lives with my aunt now, but I don't see how much longer that can happen as she is going to involve more and more care.
So it's been a bumpy couple of days, but definitely some great news in there. She is very frustrated with the speech issue since, as I mentioned before, she loves to talk. Today she was able to put a few sentences together so she is slowly coming along.
Thanks for the continued T&P ladies!
