Hire or not to Hire someone to paint the deck
So we have a HUGE deck it's over our two car garage, think lots of spindles, stairs, it's just large. It needs to be painted. I think it would take us 5 days at least, to do a good job and not worry about rushing.
DH thinks we should just hire somone to do it, I think we should just do it and it's part of being a homeowner. Why I feel this way I have no idea as I am usually in favor of not doing manual labor:)
SO WWYD? Also where do I look for painters? Craigslist makes me nervous...

I hate painting so I'd hire someone for a deck that large.
Ask your neighbors for recommendations.
As an aside this makes me think of that ad where the wife is like "oh, you're going to wash the deck" and the husband says "I'm going to POWER wash the deck" and he puts on goggles and totally destroys all the deck furniture. I'm sure if we rented a spray painter thing DH would end up painting the entire yard by mistake.
We started staining our deck last summer. Started; it isn't fully finished yet (double coat). And it is only 10x12' (ish) plus stairs. Granted we were very lax about it and should have started in the spring when it wasn't so hot, because it was hard to stay out there for more than an hour. The annoying part were all the little vertical pieces. Here's a pic:
Since your deck is so big I'd really consider hiring someone if you can swing it.
That's a good suggestion from Jules. If you can rent that then you could probably do it yourself. We were using paint brushes on the bars which was very time consuming.

I powerwashed our deck last summer, it was actually fun! I like cleaning stuff, and it was impressive how clean our deck got... Although I had the pressure too high at one point and left some grooves in the foundation and deck...
I would worry with the paint sprayer that paint would go everywhere! I'll have to look into though. We want to do two toned and then have planter boxes as our accent color. Our house is grey w/ back shutters, I'm thinking greyish deck, black spindals (although I'd love to do white but it weathers too quickly) and red planters.
I like Jules' idea for a compromise. I hate paying someone to do that kind of stuff, but our deck (it's about 10x15 and on the ground level) took about 5 hours or so to apply one coat to the deck surface and the railing, so you might be facing a long project.
My dad uses a paint sprayer to stain my parents' house (it's a log cabin) every few years and it works great. Next time we will be borrowing it.
