TTC: If you are/were actively TTC, are you winging it or tracking your ovulation? If you were winging it, but now track, how long did you wait before switching to charting or OPKs (or some other method)?

1st trimester: Did you tell your fellow Nesties before telling friends and family/ Were you worried friends or family might find out from the Nest somehow?

2nd trimester: If you know the gender, but are keeping it a secret, what's your motivation for that - privacy, surprise, etc?

3rd trimester: Looking back, what has been your favorite part about being pregnant?

L&D: What kind of preparation did you do for the labor and delivery? If you took a class, what did you take and do you feel like it prepared you well enough? If it didn't, what information or tools do you wish you'd had?

First days: If your baby seems extra active at a certain time of day in utero, did that same behaviour continue at the same time after he or she was born?

  • TTC: If you are/were actively TTC, are you winging it or tracking your ovulation? If you were winging it, but now track, how long did you wait before switching to charting or OPKs (or some other method)?

I was charting for over a year (TTA, then TTC) so I really never was "winging it" off BCP.

1st trimester: Did you tell your fellow Nesties before telling friends and family/ Were you worried friends or family might find out from the Nest somehow?

No, we told close friends and all family before I told Nesties (except for my close friend nesties who I told along with my other close friends, of course).

2nd trimester: If you know the gender, but are keeping it a secret, what's your motivation for that - privacy, surprise, etc?

We're not finding out the sex of the baby before he/she is born.

Updates: We have our 16 week appt on Monday (rescheduled from today), so I'm excited to hear the hb again.  I've pretty much "popped" and am wearing a maternity shirt for the first time today.  I start prenatal yoga tomorrow, and we start Bradley childbirth classes on Sunday.  I have my energy back and feel like myself again, though I am not running anymore.  I just couldn't hang; I'm a wimp.  There's been lots of talk and planning for my baby showers (which, I honestly never thought I'd have a baby shower, so I am honored and overwhelmed with gratitude).  I am just loving this stage of the game and think March-June are going to be really, really fun months :)

  • TTC: If you are/were actively TTC, are you winging it or tracking your ovulation? If you were winging it, but now track, how long did you wait before switching to charting or OPKs (or some other method)? We winged it and got lucky our first cycle trying. I was planning on learning charting if I made it to my next cycle, but that never happened.

1st trimester: Did you tell your fellow Nesties before telling friends and family/ Were you worried friends or family might find out from the Nest somehow? Yep, I told the NorCal Baby board before my family and friends, but I had a scare at first and I knew Nesties would be more understanding/helpful than family. I wasn't worried that my family or friends would find out from the Nest.

3rd trimester: Looking back, what has been your favorite part about being pregnant? Feeling the baby move has probably been my favorite part, but getting DH to clean the litter box has been great as well. Stick out tongue

  • TTC: If you are/were actively TTC, are you winging it or tracking your ovulation? If you were winging it, but now track, how long did you wait before switching to charting or OPKs (or some other method)? I was charting with DS#1, but had just come off of BCP, so wasn't really sure if my body had "regulated" or not.  I was also using OPKs.

1st trimester: Did you tell your fellow Nesties before telling friends and family/ Were you worried friends or family might find out from the Nest somehow? I put the tickers in my siggy, but never had an official "outing" on the bump with either DS.

2nd trimester: If you know the gender, but are keeping it a secret, what's your motivation for that - privacy, surprise, etc?  We shared the gender both times, but kept DS1's name a secret until he was born.  We'll do the same with DS2.  but that's more because I don't want to hear any negative comments on the names than wanting to keep secrets.  I figure people really can't say anything bad about the name when they are looking at the cute baby!

3rd trimester: Looking back, what has been your favorite part about being pregnant?I think feeling the kicks and the special treatment from family.  :-)

L&D: What kind of preparation did you do for the labor and delivery? If you took a class, what did you take and do you feel like it prepared you well enough? If it didn't, what information or tools do you wish you'd had? We took a childbirth class through El Camino with DS1.  I think the most useful thing about the class was when she showed us where to go if we came in after hours and the doors were locked.

First days: If your baby seems extra active at a certain time of day in utero, did that same behaviour continue at the same time after he or she was born?I don't really remember with DS1. So far this one is most active at night (or maybe that's just when I'm able to pay more attention), so I hope not!

  • TTC: If you are/were actively TTC, are you winging it or tracking your ovulation? If you were winging it, but now track, how long did you wait before switching to charting or OPKs (or some other method)?I tracked it on a little calendar by days in cycle and CM. 1st trimester: Did you tell your fellow Nesties before telling friends and family/ Were you worried friends or family might find out from the Nest somehow? No, I told my family immediately and then my friends then the nest & bump. 2nd trimester: If you know the gender, but are keeping it a secret, what's your motivation for that - privacy, surprise, etc?N/A we shared the gender.Updates:We are narrowing our names down to the top 5.  We have had the middle name picked out since before the u/s - a family name, so it's just finding a name that goes with the first and last.  We are sticking to Irish again.
  • TTC: we are tracking ovulation, or trying to at least:-/ I'm a total planner, so I think winging it for me would drive me insane. I'd rather know for sure.

  • ]TTC: If you are/were actively TTC, are you winging it or tracking your ovulation? If you were winging it, but now track, how long did you wait before switching to charting or OPKs (or some other method)?I went off BCP in 2009 and was attempting to chart, but charting doesn't work if you're not ovulating. I took longer than I should have to get to the RE clinic. So despite being off BCP and TTC we weren't actively TTC until I was medicated which was 1 year after going off BCP, luckily it only took 3 cycles with meds.

1st trimester: Did you tell your fellow Nesties before telling friends and family/ Were you worried friends or family might find out from the Nest somehow? A few of my fellow nesties I'm very close to and I had gotten a BFP on a couple of POAS on a Friday and Saturday morning. I was hanging out with them that Saturday and told them - I was exactly 4 weeks that day - 14dpiui. We told family around 7 weeks and I was on the PGAIF board, but didn't post here for a while b/c I'm just not on the board that much and since I don't know who might lurk there were lots of people I wanted to tell in person first.

2nd trimester: If you know the gender, but are keeping it a secret, what's your motivation for that - privacy, surprise, etc?N/A. It's a girl. We are keeping the name to ourselves though - we like to have a little secret and don't want anyone's opinions on it (especially my ILs who I think will be surprised by her name and not know where it comes from or why we'd choose it).

Updates: I've been going to yoga and love it. We decided to hire Kelly M to do our birth photography and am sending the deposit tomorrow - so excited. I think we're going to do a Bradley class, but still deciding, but will start classes next month.

  • TTC: If you are/were actively TTC, are you winging it or tracking your ovulation? If you were winging it, but now track, how long did you wait before switching to charting or OPKs (or some other method)?

We pulled the goalie and the end of 2009 I borrowed TCOYF from a friend and started charting (TTA) on January 2010 just to get used to taking my temps, recognizing CM, etc. It took a few months to get used to it and we started TTC in July. However, I had to have gallbladder surgery and my doctor advised us to put TTC off until then. I had my surgery early September, and we got our BFP that cycle.

1st trimester: Did you tell your fellow Nesties before telling friends and family/ Were you worried friends or family might find out from the Nest somehow?

We told our family and friends around Week 8-10. I came out to TN on a CW in January (about Week 15) because I had just found out that I was getting laid off and was worried about being pregnant and unemployed. But I wasn't worried about friends and family finding out from TN.

2nd trimester: If you know the gender, but are keeping it a secret, what's your motivation for that - privacy, surprise, etc?

It's not a secret -- we're having a girl. We had to find out so husband and I can decide on a name. No use in arguing over a boy name if we were having a girl, kwim? Not concerned about keeping the name secret til Birth Day since we may not even have a name til then.

Updates: I've been doing a lot of shopping! We just bought the crib -- BabyMod Lily and it's sitting in my baby's room still in the box. We still need to clear the room out before we can start setting things up. We also bought a glider/recliner, but it won't get here til May. We just signed up for our classes: a 4 week "Preparing for Childbirth" course, a breastfeeding class, "Becoming New Parents" class and an Infant CPR class. We also signed up for our hospital tour. The month of May is pretty much booked! I am hoping that these classes are helpful, but I am expecting them to be a bit scary.

  • TTC: If you are/were actively TTC, are you winging it or tracking your ovulation? We were charting to avoid before TTC so I continued charting. After charting for 2 cycles after the m/c I decided to take a month off and got our second BFP that month.

1st trimester: Did you tell your fellow Nesties before telling friends and family/ Were you worried friends or family might find out from the Nest somehow? We told the Nest about the same time as everyone else. I think. Or maybe it was right before? IDK, I wasn't too concerned but always do worry about who's lurking.

2nd trimester: If you know the gender, but are keeping it a secret, what's your motivation for that - privacy, surprise, etc? N/A We're team green.

3rd trimester: Looking back, what has been your favorite part about being pregnant? Feeling the baby move is pretty amazing.

Updates: I have my glucose screening on Saturday. After seeing what my weight gain was the last month I'm seriously concerned. Hopefully it was just the lack of activity due to the rain that caused the scale to jump so high :/

I have been charting since my first cycle off BCP. I was really worried about how my body was going to react and it's really nice knowing that I am actually ovulating and that when I see my temp going down at CD 40 I know AF will arrive shortly. I know last cycle I would have been a little worried if I hadn't seen that. I might try OPKs in the future, maybe another two months, if I don't get lucky.

I'm way too OCD not to track it! I have an app on my phone, then I transfer the data to my TCOYF charts. It's easier to record on the phone, but I can read and understand the info better on the charts.

  • TTC: If you are/were actively TTC, are you winging it or tracking your ovulation? If you were winging it, but now track, how long did you wait before switching to charting or OPKs (or some other method)? We winged it, but had planned to track a few months later if our "winging" didn't work during that brief window.

1st trimester: Did you tell your fellow Nesties before telling friends and family/ Were you worried friends or family might find out from the Nest somehow? I'm not a frequent poster, so my family and some friends knew before I put up the ticker

2nd trimester: If you know the gender, but are keeping it a secret, what's your motivation for that - privacy, surprise, etc? We found out the gender, but didn't keep it a secret.

3rd trimester: Looking back, what has been your favorite part about being pregnant? DH feeling her kick... and when I was in the 2nd tri feeling great but not being huge and limited with movement.

  • TTC: If you are/were actively TTC, are you winging it or tracking your ovulation? If you were winging it, but now track, how long did you wait before switching to charting or OPKs (or some other method)? We never did wing it.  We started charting and added OPKs after about 4 cycles.

1st trimester: Did you tell your fellow Nesties before telling friends and family/ Were you worried friends or family might find out from the Nest somehow? I was worried that family or friends would find out from the Nest, so I used an ae until I had told everyone in person that I wanted to (about 12 weeks).

2nd trimester: If you know the gender, but are keeping it a secret, what's your motivation for that - privacy, surprise, etc? We didn't keep it a secret.

3rd trimester: Looking back, what has been your favorite part about being pregnant? Prenatal yoga was my favorite part.  I think I would have had a much different pregnancy without it.  Later in the pregnancy, I absolutely loved feeling the baby kick and move.

L&D: What kind of preparation did you do for the labor and delivery? If you took a class, what did you take and do you feel like it prepared you well enough? If it didn't, what information or tools do you wish you'd had? We took a Birthing From Within class and I do feel that it helped us prepare for the different possible scenarios.  In the end, it didn't prepare us for our exact birth experience, but I wouldn't have done anything differently.  Everyone's labor is completely unique!

First days: If your baby seems extra active at a certain time of day in utero, did that same behaviour continue at the same time after he or she was born? Nope.  Baby was active after meals and in the early evening in utero, and she's exactly the opposite as an "outside" baby- drowsy after eating and fast asleep in the early evening!

Updates: I have an outside baby!  Haley Beth was born last Thursday (I posted her birth announcement a couple of days ago).  So far, things are great, aside from sleep deprivation because of some difficult nighttime feedings.

AvaLikeLava took our newborn photos today and we had so much fun!  I absolutely can't wait to see them.

  • TTC: If you are/were actively TTC, are you winging it or tracking your ovulation? If you were winging it, but now track, how long did you wait before switching to charting or OPKs (or some other method)?

I used OPKs as soon as I got my first cycle after my Mirena was removed to make sure that I was ovulating and that my cycles had regulated themselves.

1st trimester: Did you tell your fellow Nesties before telling friends and family/ Were you worried friends or family might find out from the Nest somehow?

The boards definitely knew before family. Friends found out around the same time as the boards. I wasn't worried about anyone finding out from the boards since everyone had respected my wishes to keep it off of FB until I was ready to announce it.

2nd trimester: If you know the gender, but are keeping it a secret, what's your motivation for that - privacy, surprise, etc?

N/A - we found out the sexes and told family right away. We never planned to keep it a secret.

3rd trimester: Looking back, what has been your favorite part about being pregnant?

I just love seeing how much my body has changed over the course of the pregnancy. It is one of the few times I'm really happy with how my body looks.

Updates: both babies are still breech so we are delivering via scheduled c-section on April 1st, assuming they don't try to make a break for it sooner.
