Questions about applying to a school district
Hello! I am usually on the knot boards and since they've been so useful I thought I'd try asking a question here.
I am in my final few months of graduate school to be a school psychologist. I am ready to start looking for jobs in a school district. I can imagine it would vary from state by state or even from districts, but when do most people find their jobs in a public school district to start in the next school year? Would you recommend applying to jobs as they are available (I've been looking online and nothing is open for next year yet) or just send in your resume and application for them to keep on file? Thanks!
Re: Questions about applying to a school district
Depends on the district - often the better districts in my area begin hiring early. I got hired in December for my job starting in August.
I'd suggest sending out resumes and cover letters to all the districts you can, regardless of there being a job available. If one becomes available, send another set. It is SO COMPETITIVE right now that every piece of leg work counts!
