Fashion Emergency, help!

Hola ladies! I need some help!!

OK, I have 4 showers this spring/early summer (2 baby, 2 wedding) and they are with different groups people but the appropriate dress code would be the same for all. I had planned to pick up a few dresses to wear but after searching pretty much everywhere, I could only find one fab dress(maybe it's just me, but it seems like everything spring right now is SO short. I'm only 5'5", I can't imagine what it would be like to be a tall girl!)

I ended up getting this dress from Loft:

I'm too lazy to PIP the accessories I purchased to wear with it, but I got a light purple/lilac cardigan (Limited), an ivory/nude skinny belt (NYCo) to belt it, a long gold/pearl necklace (Limited), and nude pumps. It's pretty and feminine and very spring, love it.

BUT mother nature is being a hor and throwing a wrench it my plans. The first baby shower is this weekend and I planning on wearing this... until the weather took a turn for the winter and it's supposed to be 40 degrees and possibly snowing. Boo.

Should I wear tights with this? Could I even do it without looking stupid? I don't want to scrap the dress and wear something all together b/c the shower is for a little girl and themed something like a ladies tea party and this would be perfect... if it was 10-15 degrees higher. Should I swap out shoes/accessories? If so, to what? Or should I just say f-it and wear it as is and have goosebumps on my legs (which, I'm OK with, FTR)? Or is that inappropriate? The shower is only a few hours....

This whole dress situation has stressed me out way more than it should have... between the looking around and now this weather, I'm completely over it and really just wanna wear pajama jeans.

  • You won't be outside long will you?  If not, I'd just keep the outfit you'd planned, throw a coat over the whole deal, and run inside and back out to your car.

  • I don't have any fashion advice, but wanted to chime in that I love that dress!
  • I agree with Mary.

40? is practically shorts weather in MN. I'd just wear it as is. That dress was styled beautifully on a blog I found just yesterday.

She paired it with a cardigan and a belt. Gorgeous!

  • Hmmm. Well the outfit sounds adorable the way you have it styled BUT I'm always freezing and 40 is cold to me, so I will offer an alternative! Lol:)

If you had to do tights with this, I would so a semi sheer black with black pumps or booties and still use your same cardigan and jewelry...I'd add a black skinny belt instead of the nude one to match your tights and shoes:)

This is what I would do.
  • I also agree with what Mary said. I don't think tights will look right with it. Just run fast! Lol
Baby, you've got the sort of eyes that tell me tales...

    I agree.

  • Gracias, amigas!

Smo, it's practically shorts weather in NEOhio as well, but I was worried it'd be Ms. Springtime while everyone else was wearing sweaters. Whatever, I don't care, I'll just sprint from car to shower. And if my legs are red and goosebumped, at least they'll have some color.
