What was on your mind this time last year?

Since it's almost anniversary time I think it would be nice to reminisce about what we were doing last year.

So for me I was about 3 weeks out from the wedding. From what I can remember I think my bridal showers were around this time! (isn't it sad I can't remember? I know it was definitely in March) Our RSVP date had already passed and we were just figuring out a lot of last minute stuff. I had my dress fittings and my hair/makeup trials and I was getting really nervous and excited! And also amazed that I was getting married in 3 short weeks!

Your turn!

Re: What was on your mind this time last year?

  • I was just thinking about this last week. This time last year I was nervous because my bridal shower was the following weekend (not this weekend, next weekend). I was trying to find a dry place to do my bridal portraits in case it rained. I was stressing over printing the ceremony programs and figuring out what to do for favors.

All of this makes my head hurt and I'm so glad that I don't have to worry about any of this anymore. It was fun at the time, but it's so much nicer to relax and just enjoy.

  • I remember this time last year I was starting to go nuts with all of the RSVPs..I think my deadline was March 25th or something like that so they were strolling in.  I used to drive home on my lunch break to get them! :)

I was probably nervous about my bachelorette party which was on March 20th.  And starting to stalk the 10 day till it got here.

I remember the bridal portrait saga!!!! How awful that was, but they turned out gorgeous.

This time last year I was getting pumped for my bachelorette party in Charleston!!

  • Ah, yes! This time last year I was finalizing the meal and taking care of some last minute decor items that my coordinator was supposed to handle, but dropped the ball on - like getting the linens ordered, charger plates, etc...(btw, he ended up getting sacked a few months after our wedding, so at least he won't be around to give this year's brides at my venue extra headaches!)

I was just over month out, so fittings were the big thing. I remembered how I loved just standing in the seamstresses shop and looking at my reflection with the dress on, imagining how it would be to wear it "for real" on my wedding day...My Mom and I were shopping for my shoes, making final jewelry decisions and oh yes - the RSVP's were beginning to come back in earnest!

I do miss the activity a little bit, I have to be honest. The big thing for me now is that I am getting so nostalgic and emotional as our Anni approaches...I'm so glad I have you girls to reminisce with, because I don't think a lot of people who've "been there, done that" have the patience to listen to my "remember whens?" Smile

  • This time last year, I was working on the thank you notes from my out of town shower and trying to hide the fact that I also knew I was getting a surprise shower at work. I remember that this month was super stressful with family drama and us moving into our house.

This year, it is still stressful with family drama (will it ever end?) and us getting the house ready for the baby (cleaning the baby's room that is currently a storage room).

There is a time for everything and a season for every activity under heaven. - Ecc. 3:1 <a href="http://www.thenest.com/?utm_source=ticker&utm_medium=HTML&utm_campaign=tickers" title="D
  • On this day last year I was in Europe for work. I remember thinking that the timing of the trip was bad, because I was in the midst of everything and our RSVPs were coming back. Every day when I called DH (FI then, ha), I asked what cards came in the mail. My first fitting was 3/6 and my shower was 3/14 so I was gearing up for that.

And this year, I'm gearing up for IVF.

  • Hmmm...I was probably stressing out about the lack of RSVPs and also coordinating a meeting with our photographer so she could see the venue, etc.  Oh and also stressing out about whether the dress is going to fit!

Thank goodness I don't have to worry about this stuff ever again!

  • Ahhhhh yes the memories.  I can't believe it's been almost a year already.  My bakery said something to the effect of "didn't you just get married last month" when I called to order our cake this week.

Just like everyone else, I was a mailbox stalker waiting for the last few RSVPs to come in.  I know I was starting to stress about getting the last of my tissue paper wreaths done.  I had 2 and wanted 1 more that was bigger than the other 2.  We were also working on programs.  My BP was coming up and I was getting excited about that.  Plus, at the end of the month we were driving to NC for a wedding.  Thank goodnes my mom was able to help tie the ribbons on programs while we were gone.  That was a big help.

  • I was trying to finish the thank you notes from my shower, and probably doing some dress fittings and of course waiting for the RSVPs!
  • I had 7 weeks left. WOW I can't remember but it was stressful.

  • I too was RSVP stalking, and it was right about this time that my wisdom teeth got infected and I had to deal with all of that, and them wanting to remove them so close to the wedding, oh and my Bachelorette party was right around this time too. Man am I glad that was all last year!!

This year we have little to no stress!!

  • I just continued to pray every day that Mike's psycho ex GF from their high school years would leave him alone and quit telling him that she loved him & wanted another chance, and also that my ILs would behave themselves and get along.  :)

Small potatoes compared to how things would've been had I waited one more year to get married.  I am SO glad my dad was here to give me away.  I never would've imagined less than a year after our wedding we'd lose him.  :(

It just doesn't seem right. I am so happy that you and he were able to make some special memories at your wedding. I know it's kind of Epicurean, but I am a huge believer in living life for today, and not putting things off for "a better time"...because you just never know what the future may (or may not) bring. I love how you shared memories on your FB page - what a great way to celebrate your Dad's life. ((Hugs))

  • Well, I think my bachelorette party was this weekend last year, so I was REALLY excited about that. So that means this was also the weekend we had the fittings for all of the bridesmaid dresses and my second fitting. I was also worried about the last few trailing RSVPs, trying not to stalk my registry (I really miss doing that...hahaha) and finishing up all of the programs, centerpieces, bubbles, etc.. To me, it seems longer than a year ago. I guess that is what having two surgeries and trying without success to have a baby for 8 months will do to ya! Hahaha!

  • Wow at this point last year, I was 6 weeks away, and def very annoyed because not everyone had responded!!!! haha   I had already had my awesome bachelorette party and was looking forward to my shower (everyone thought I was surprised, but my mom gave me the date because I wanted to know! everything else about the party was a surprise though).  i was going for fittings, putting together hotel bags, and planning the rehearsal dinner.  Whew....it was fun, but I'm sure glad that THIS year, I don't have all that to worry about!!!

It would be fun to go back and read old posts from all of us from last year, can we go back that far?

  • This time last year I was getting ready for my Memphis bachelorette party. I can't believe it has already been a year since then. Plus, I was completely stressed out of course.
  • I too was stressing about RSVPs. If I remember correctly they were supposed to be in by March 20th.

Weather was at the forefront of my thoughts too. We were having an outdoor wedding & even thought we had a back up plan I was really worried that it would rain. It turned out that we had a shower that morning at about 9 but it was beautiful & 83 degrees that afternoon. Now if I could just figure out how to change my siggy picture to a photo from the wedding.........

I love this too and find myself wondering what you'll post next. I think this great idea. What a great way to pay tribute to your Dad! Each time I see one I thank God that my Dad is in good health. ::HUGS::
