Dr. Day Care in Cumberland

Hi. Does anyone have any experience or know anything about Dr Day Care in Cumberland? I'm planning to visit it next week, but I was wondering if anyone has any info about it or currently goes there and could give me some intel.

 Thanks!

Re: Dr. Day Care in Cumberland

  • we liked the one in Foster.  DD was only there 3 days a week..they gave breakfast, lunch and snacks.  She learned so much while there.
  • Honestly, I have heard a lot of crappy reviews of it from people I work with or parents I know.  It was a few problems they talked about (of course, I can't remember what now).  Four Corners on Bear Hill Road gets great reviews though, I actually haven't heard anything but positives there.  My girls are in a home daycare, though, so I dont' have first hand experience with either of them.
  • I have a mixed review.

DS was there for about 3 months before DH became a SAHD.  At first, it was great.  We really liked the teachers, the location is wonderful, and it's very reasonable.  They were always very caring and we had absolutely no complaints.  This was during the summer, and his teachers were apparently college kids.  When they left, we really didn't like the people who came in.  They also changed the director, and the new one seemed really overwhelmed.  2 days in a row, DH came in and found our 6 month old baby sitting on the floor alone, crying, and the room was understaffed.  On the 3rd day, I went to drop him off one day and there were no infant teachers around - I was told to leave DS with one teacher in a room of 20+ kids up to kindergarten age.  I left with him, and it contributed to our decision for DH to SAH.  We never went back.

The corporate folks were extremely apologetic and promised to make changes, and also allowed us to leave without notice with no charge as a result, but it left us with a bad taste in our mouth - which is really too bad, considering we'd have a wonderful experience until then.   I don't know what it's like now - this was in September of 2010.
